There's a fair amount of Akuma players in Thailand believe it or not. And Book has a pocket Akuma. So I'm not surprised that Book was able to beat Akouma in the mirror match

tekken 8 roster: shin akuma, evil ryu, geese howard, demon rugal, chun li, mai shiranui, rasputin, ukyo, haomaru, nakoruru, leonardo, donatello, michaelangelo, rafael, mario, wario, link, donkey kong, zangief...

People need to stop reading random beginners on twitter and actually understand the game. Akuma is perhaps one of the hardest characters to play in Tekken, maybe the hardest together with Geese and Raven. You have no idea how hard is to link all those stuff, some of the strings can be easy, especially for a 2d player in general, but the timing, positioning and execution need to be perfect in order to maximize his damage output. He is far from autopilot, the basic combos are indeed basic but you won't get far with those. This is the kind of character which rewards high execution with damage. Stop looking at damage alone and actually pay attention to everything.
If he was so easy to play, everyone would main him or have him as pocket character, but that's not the case.

But everyone (pros) do have akuma as pocket character. Super Akouma always losses in mirror match because he's lacking in fundamentals and got carried by his character. He even got destroyed by sephiblack with Miguel lmao. 2D characters are ruining tekken because you're not having fun fighting them. Any excuses about execution barrier is moot because 1. If you're using arcade stick, execution is piss easy, and 2. Any orange rank using 2D can delete your health easily anyway.
It only takes 1 whiff to get your health deleted, compared with other tekken characters or DLC characters where at most they can take away 70% in ideal setups and situations. You know who else's hard to play in Tekken? Mishimas, yet you never see people complain about Jin, Heihachi, Kazuya, hell, even Devil Jin. That's because when you lose against them it doesn't feel cheap and they're actually hard to play as.
Eliza is a 2D character as well, yet you rarely see people picking her in comps (except Chanel, but then he switches when he's losing rounds). That's because she's an actually properly balanced Tekken 7 character with horrible normal, similar execution as Akuma and Geese, risky playstyle that requires commitment to the chain, hear special cancels are not hit-confirmed, and actually requires you to have at least half a brain to properly play her in comps. Compare this with Akuma's unseeable low and dickjabs that can be hit-confirmed special canceled into death combo, Geese's + frames on blocks and having his pre-nerf kit back in Tekken, and Harada's decision to remove any weaknesses that makes them balanced in their respective series (Akuma's low health, Geese's nerf in KoF XIV).
Everyone agrees that 2D chars are ruining tekken but pros keeps pressing on because of their love of the game and they get paid to do it. Casual players? They'll just stop playing altogether and it reflects on Tekken's player count.
Worse, no Tekken 7 character have proper anti-air kits at all!
Tl;dr : Don't play tekken, play guilty gear strive instead

I’m an Akuma player and my hardest battles are against other Akuma players. I even get beaten by low rank Akumas. It’s very confusing to figure out your opponent’s choice when you know he could do 1 of 5 or more options during a demon flip etc 😂
