Quake Live movement Tutorial: Rocket Jumping

- Rocket Jumping allows you to reach high points you couldn't normally reach. This is very helpful in a match for it allows you to take shortcuts and navigate the map more efficiently. The most difficult part about it is the coordination between left and right mouse button, so I have made an effort to elaborate on this a bit more extensively.
I came for some help on the last jump, but you didn't really explain it...
For people who struggle with last jump: do one circle jump before first RJ, so you have more speed at start. You should get really high with first RJ. Then I do two RJ on the closer wall, and then one on the wall on the other side. So I use 4 rockets in total and usually have way more height at the end than is even necessary.

How much damage do you take from a rocketjump? How often could you use it in a competitive match? Im coming from CS, so I have no idea about that suff :(
Sorry your comment didn't show up in my feed somehow. Depends on the angle, I'd guess 30-40 damage a pop, split 2:1 between armour and health. In a normal match the damage is often negligible because you will constantly pick-up health and armour items anyway. When you're out of control and resources are scarce this can be an issue, though.

Try a quad+jumppad rocket jump)) You can do it at the "Longest Yard" map probably.
Or go to a map that has a proxy mine launcher (e.g. Space Camp), fire 5 mines at the floor and step on it. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee! :D

can't use the maps, it's loading, sais "awaiting snapshots" and then it starts loading all over again for hours....

+Intuxikated A friend of mine I always have that problem. I HATE THAT. and there is no fucking one to talk to about this. I tried googling it in every possible way. I found nothing... Sometimes it randomly works, but when it does it's ONLY ONE TIME. After that, the problem comes back.

Great tutorials mate, but what maps are this and the one you use for strafe jumping ? I'm looking for them to practice but can't find them :/

Mad Gamer That particular training map doesn't have damage. If you want to practice a specific map one way to do it is to open a Clan Arena bot game and kick the bots so you're alone. Clan arena doesn't impose self-damage, either so you can practice to your heart's content. There was a way to enable godmode in bot matches but I forgot how and whether or not that's still possible and I can't research this right now. But maybe a fellow commenter can fill us in :)

Training map, used to be able to access it from the menu. Don't know if you still can.

just as any video, no explination on the very last jump, quite sad this game is so begginer unfriendly its fucking ridiculous - id love to play this game so bad but this is not well done at all really makes the game unplayable.....
