- Coming through repping for Chicago, the multi-faceted rapper and outspoken activist Vic Mensa pulled up to The Daily Cannon to speak about his new album that’s dropping next month, the inspiration behind the emotional “Blue Eyes,” and the importance of his position in the culture of politics and knowledge.
Captured in studio with morning show host Nick Cannon, along with co-hosts Courtney Bee and Masononthemic, Mensa shared his excitement for the new music that is on the horizon, as his forthcoming album ‘Victor’ is set to release September, 15, 2023. Citing the harsh reality of colorism, which plagues his homeland of Ghana, Mensa explains that his single “Blue Eyes” was inspired by and to commemorate his late Aunt who suffered from effects of skin bleaching, which also led to cancer. While Vic has consistently worked to bring awareness to the beauty of his people and put in efforts to impact his state-side neighborhoods for the better, Mensa tributes much of his beliefs on intentionality.
Vic has partnered with his long-time friend and fellow artist Chance The Rapper on numerous benefits, so it’s no surprise that the two will celebrate career milestones with their upcoming Acid Rap 10 Year Anniversary show, which also highlights Mensa’s debut.
