ഇസ്രായേൽ ജനത ജൂദിയാസാമ്രാജ്യം (The Great Judiah) ദാവീദിന്റെ മകനായ ശലമോന്റെ മരണംവരെ യിസ്രായേലിലെ പന്ത്രണ്ട് ഗോത്രങ്ങളും ഒരു തലവന്റെ കീഴിൽ ഒരുജനവും ഒരുഭരണ കൂടവും എന്ന നിലയിൽ എകോപിച്ചുനിന്നിരുന്നു.
ശലമോന്റെ മരണ ശേഷം അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മകൻ രെഹബയാം (Rehoboam) അധികാരത്തിൽ വന്നു.
രെഹബയാം ആത്മീയ ചൈതന്യമില്ലാത്ത ജഡികനും സുഖലോലുപനുമായിരുന്നു. അവൻ തന്റെ പിതാമഹന്മാരായ ദാവീദിനെയും സോളമനെയുംപോലെ ആത്മീയമായും ഭൗതികമായും ഇസ്രായേൽ ജനതയെ ഏകോപിച്ചു നിറുത്തുന്നതിൽ പരാജയപ്പെട്ടു. അവന്റെ കാലത്ത് ഇസ്രായേൽ ജനതയിൽ ഭിന്നിപ്പ് ഉടലെടുകുയും അതു വിപ്ലവത്തിലേക്കും, പിന്നീട് ജൂദിയയുടെ വിഭജനത്തിലേക്കും കാരണമായി.
എങ്ങിനെയെന്നാൽ പന്ത്രണ്ട് ഇസ്രായേൽ ഗോത്രങ്ങളിലെ പത്തുഗോത്രങ്ങളും വിഘടിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് രെഹബയാമി(Rehoboam) നെതിരെ ശക്തമായ വിപ്ലവം അഴിച്ചു വിട്ടു. വിപ്ലവത്തിലൂടെ ജൂദിയാ സാമ്രാജ്യത്തെ രണ്ടായി പിളർത്തി.
ജൂദിയായുടെ വടക്കുഭാഗം വിപ്ലവകാരികളായ പത്തു ഗോത്രങ്ങൾ കൈവശപ്പെടുത്തുകയും യിസ്രായേൽ എന്ന പുതിയ ഒരു രാഷ്ട്രം കെട്ടിപ്പൊക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. പുതിയ രാജ്യമായ യിസ്രായേൽ വടക്കേ രാജ്യം (Northern Kingdom) എന്നും, മാതൃരാജ്യമായ ജൂദിയ തെക്കേ രാജ്യം (Southern Kingdom) എന്നും അറിയപ്പെട്ടു തുടങ്ങി.
വിഘടിച്ചു പുതിയ രാജ്യമായ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ തലസ്ഥാനം ശമരിയയും, ജൂദിയായുടെ തലസ്ഥാനം യെരൂശലേമും ആയി. തുടർന്നു.
ജൂദിയായുടെ (Southern Kingdom ന്റെ) രാജാവായി ശലോമോന്റെ മകൻ രെഹബയാമും (Rehoboam),
യിസ്രായേൽ എന്ന Northern Kingdom ന്റെ രാജാവായി ജെറോബയാമും (Jeroboam) അധികാരത്തിൽ വന്നു. (1.രാജാക്കന്മാർ 12:16-20 വാക്യങ്ങൾ വായിക്കുക).
ശലോമോന്റെ മകനായ രെഹബയാമിനു (Rehoboam നു) അനുസരണവും കൂറും പുലർത്തി മാതൃ രാജ്യത്തോടൊപ്പം നിന്നത് രണ്ടു ഇസ്രായേൽ ഗോത്രങ്ങൾ മാത്രമാണ്, യെഹൂദാ ഗോത്രവും ബെന്യാമിൻ ഗോത്രവും മാത്രം.
ബാക്കി പത്തു ഗോത്രങ്ങളും വിപ്ലവത്തിലൂടെ വിഘടിച്ചു പോയി യിസ്രയേൽ എന്ന Northern Kingdom ത്തിനു രൂപം നല്കി.
പിന്നീട് ഈ രണ്ടു രാഷ്ട്രങ്ങളും പരസ്പരം കടുത്ത കലഹങ്ങളും യുദ്ധക്കളുമായി തുടർന്നു പോന്നു.
ഈ വിഘടനവും, ഭിന്നിപ്പും കലഹവും അവരുടെ മേൽ ദൈവകോപത്തിനു കാരണമായി. അവരുടെ ഇടയിലേക്ക് ദൈവം പലപ്രവാചകന്മാരെയും നിയോഗിച്ചയച്ചു. പക്ഷെ അവരെയെല്ലാം അവർ നിഷേധിച്ചു തള്ളുകയും ദൈവ പാതയിലേക്ക് തിരിയാൻ മനസ്സാകുകയും ചെയ്തില്ല.
അനന്തര കാലങ്ങളിൽ മേൽ പറയപ്പെട്ട രണ്ടു ഭരണകൂടങ്ങൾക്കു (ഹിബ്രു ജനതക്ക് മുഴുവനും) വന്നു ഭവിച്ച ആപത്തുകൾക്കെല്ലാം പ്രധാന കാരണം ഈ ഭിന്നിപ്പു ആണെന്ന് കാണാവുന്നതാണ്.
