Thanks for the review. Although, regarding 08:09, the Amazon page of SMSL DO200 Pro says that it doesn't support eARC HDMI (enhanced variation), it only supports the regular ARC HDMI. Did it in your tests workd with eARC HDMI, as well? I'm wondering how the sound of DO200 Pro compares to SMSL DO400 that you had reviewed. Which one is better, more neutral and natural sounding with better soundstage, clarity and separation?
Thanks for your review. I'm currently evaluating this same SMSL DO200 Pro DAC and it seems on par with my Topping E70 Velvet. I didn't know that about the 5V vs 4V setting. I wonder if dropping the voltage to 4V doesn't alleviate the noise so much as making it less audible?
Hardly ..however one must ask how good was the software ( the music’s recording and mastering) done🤷🏻♂️ The “pop” market has set up to run on lower quality playback systems..that’s why you get really well produced music to show off the system. So is the DAC shrill ..or is it the recording ..and how does the rest of the system display the signal? This is the audiophile rabbit hole 🕳️ Have a great week.
@@Tharbamar I went with your earlier recommendations with your review of the Do100 Pro and stepped up from the SU-1 which I surprised with the many identifiable improvements. It was well worth it. I was getting FOMO for the Do200 Pro as it is on Prime Day discount. i will happily settle with the Do00Pro from your response here.
I would use the ARC from TV to powered speakers, so doesn't have the be the most refined ever, but in the past SMSL ARC did not control the volume of pre-out, this would be a nice feature.
This is why I believe having parametric EQ, and compressor and limiter features is necessary to have because all music is not created equal” there will never be a perfect DAC for every music and owner. 😮

Hello Tharbamar Today I got my SMSL DO200 Pro DAC. And I got a problem playing MQA-CD by using coax and optical SPDIF inputs: during playback of MQA-CD constantly I got the sound dropouts. I tried both coax and optical inputs, I also changed the cables and tried with cd transport Audiolab 6000CDT and Sony DVD player. However, nothing changed dropouts remain to be present. I also tried normal CD playback, no problem with it. On USB input all the files FLAC and MQA play without dropouts.

Hi, at your suggestion I bought the SMSL 9 ultra and it's great. How about pairing the SMSL SH-X SA with it and as a headphone amplifier, but a preamplifier for the amplifier. Tharbamar. How about, the SMSL DO100 PRO? It has those two Sabre ES9039Q2M. Which one you recommend to purchase DO100pro or DO200Pro?
To be honest you can’t go wrong with either of them, it only come down to personal preference.
I prefer ESS over CS Logic.

It would have been more helpful if you just standardize your test track as the usual "Kiss Of Life", then it would be easier to compare.

I sent the email to the service line. However no reply at the moment.
I got the support from the seller. They provided me with the firmware update. After the installation the problem was eliminated. All is good now.

Switching to 2v and 4v should be on all DACs, not all gear are happy with 5.2v+ through XLR
