@capcomfan82 I really don't like the comparison between Pete being banned (and therefore ineligible) and Bonds/Clemens being snubbed by a minority of writers.
Pete broke a 70 yr old cardinal rule of the MLB and knew the penalty for doing so. That just wasn't the case for Bonds and Clemens.....a PED based Hall snub didn't even exist as a concept back in the late 90s. There weren't even consequences to using PEDs back then.

No doubt ...Pete Rose should be in the Hall Of Fame. Alex Karas and Paul Hornung are in a more selective pro football HOF despite being suspended FOR 1 SEASON, 25 years earlier than Pete Rose for the same disease/ act. A few years ago, Calvin Ridley bet 10s of 1000s on his team, and received a 1 YEAR SUSPENSION. As soon as the Ridley suspension occured, baseball needed to end their war on Pete Rose, as it isnt a fitting or legit punishment for modern times plain and simple. The scrolling odds on EVERY modern televised baseball game should have made that obvious as well. The basketball HOF has a player who has done much worse, solicitation of the murder of a disagreeable head coach. Take the friggin fraternity of baseball writers out of the equation immediately. They are the real guilty party, along with those that fetishize the glossier and romantic view of baseball's past. The people who select the baseball HOF need to grow the F up!!

Mike…..are you purposely ignoring the NBA or something?? The Knicks are about to complete a blockbuster trade to acquire Karl Anthony-Towns, and Dikembe Mutombo, one of its great ambassadors, passes away, and you mention nothing about both! Mike that’s really unfair. At least mention Mutombo’s passing! That one was more surprising than Pete Rose because of him only being 58. Not taking anything away from Pete Rose, but you have to mention Mutombo. Very disappointed Mike.

Rest In Peace Pete Rose. MLB get over your hypocritical selves and induct him into the Hall of Fame! You denied him in life, grant it to him posthumously.

Pete Rose got 200 hits each year for 20+ years. After DiMaggio, Rose holds the NL consecutive hits record. He beat Ty Cobb with 4256 lifetime hits. Pete Rose is sort of in the HoF ... he just doesn't have a plaque.

Pete's "mistake" of long-term denial always struck me as a form of mental illness. So sad, he could have been so much of an ambassador for the sport, a hero even. Instead, just another bitter old man. So sad.

When I was 10 years old and Pete was chasing the 56 game hitting streak Wide world of Sports had a highlight segment. My father sat me down in front of the TV and said to me That's how you play ball. It had a great impact on my life in baseball. I will always be grateful to Pete Rose for that reason. Sad day

The Mets were swinging at anything in game 2 today. It didn't have to be a strike at all. They just wanted to get out of there. It was sort of a disservice to Arizona.
