  • Going to a country's supermarket can give you an idea about its culture for several reasons, such as the availability and variety of food products that reflect the country's culinary traditions, local ingredients, and dietary preferences. 🛒🛍️🥕🥬
For example, in Finland, supermarkets often have a wide range of rye bread, oats, berries, and fish products, reflecting the country's traditional food culture.

Remember that the 0,40€ "pantti" on those bottles is in the price when you buy them. You don't get anything when you return them because you have paid the price already. Although if you collect a bottle from the side of the road then it is free money. That is why you don't see any plastic bottles or aluminum cans on the side of the road in Finland. And if you see one you should pick it up and return it. :)

If you ask me, K-Citymarket is usually better quality, Prisma is cheaper. At least around here.

You can plant those herbs and have a herb garden at your home, "yrtti- ja vihannesmulta" ( = herb and vegetable soil ) is good for that purpose.

When you bought beetroots , did you press "2"?!!! You must not! You just have to put them on the scale and take the note. If you press "2", i think you pay twice the required amount.
You have to press the 2, 3, 4(and so on) if the product is sold by the piece (pastaija, riisipiirakka, lihapiirakka, pulla…).

@@ilhuihernandez Actually the number for the beetroots was 118, in the first menu, you should had picked the button 90-119, which 118 lands under, and then picked 118 under that menu. You chose number 18, which was Papaya, 12.00€/kg. Beetroots were 2.69€/kg. These new machines can be confusing especially if you don't understand the language well! I like the old types more which just have own button to each product.

It's so sad that EU is trying to change the deposit system in Finland for empty bottles. In my opinion it works great on Finland and should not be changed. Also, I noticed you drink Hartwall vichy, that's my favorite drink too! You are a woman of culture! 😂

Salmons are usually rainbow trout or norwegian atlantic salmon, which should always be avoided. Its grown in large open net basins that are a threat to wild atlantic salmon, spreading desieses and poor genetic material if they escape and mate with wild ones.

Fortunately there are also small markets like Alepa, which are intended to be fast and easy to visit in the local neighborhood.
Alepa is part of the same S-Group as PRISMA.

Its standard layout for stores since the 1970ties..to attract people to buy more than just that "milk" or" packet of coffee "as well as sweets on low shelves so children see them and start shouting about it etc etc
Stores isnt a wellfare thing for your benefit, they are there for make money.

Most stores are businesses, even those owned by co-operatives and their owner-customers. Expecting businesses to be welfare, is an unusual idea. Though just about all grocery stores do actually have also some activities which can be labeled as welfare.
There are also stores which are run by welfare type organizations distributing food and running recycling centers where goods are available cheaply and some for free.

There is al ready comments about the scale and numbers. Now you over paid of those beetroots more than 4 times the real price. You need to be more carefull with that. There´s no trouble if you pay too much for the pruduct, but if you buy something more expencive like those papayas and put code of beetroot in to the pack and the register pays attention (like he/she should) for the price tag. Then they could think that you have tried to scam the register and you would be in trouble. That would be considered same as stealing and in worst case you might get ticket from police for that. Of course the register might understand that as a foreigner you´ve just been confused and put the wrong tag for mistake, but i tought better to tell that you wont get any trouble for that.
