    Something I would like to add that wasn’t in the video: these figures are made from PVC plastic and they do have a plastic-y smell when you first open them. It’s best to let them sit in a well ventilated area until the smell goes away when you first buy them.
    PVC has toxic properties like many plastics, so it is best not to put them in your mouth and anything like that. Likewise, for customizers, I would suggest wearing a respirator if you do any Dremel work or anything that would make dust particles!
    I would say the same for hasbro figures, so that isn’t unique to these figures.
    I hope this helps!

    Hasbro has no one but themselves to blame.
    There's a demand they just don't care about, be it because of investors or their own doctrine.
    People have been crying out for clones and not only are they scarce but also outlandishly expensive.
    Fans like me who live in Europe pay exorbitant prices and almost never get the stuff because Hasbro says "nope, USA exclusive." (Addendum) and yet, even friends in the US say the desireable clone figures are mostly rare too, but pegwarmers are always in abundance, almost as if they purposely made less of the desireable ones 🤷🏻‍♂️

    I'm so glad they're not toxic, I'm looking at ordering 2 13th troopers for me and my brother. We both love Jedi fallen order and Hasbro's official figure is so expensive. I have not found any figures in my collection with lead paint thankfully. However, the inspiration for this video came from 1. Followed asking often about the safety and 2. Several articles in the news around Christmas, warning parents about lead painted toys from AliExpress and other direct-to-consumer sites. I figured it was better to be safe than sorry.

  • @MontyOfTennessee

    Lead paint is only a single worry, the real issue is the plastics itself.

    • @RustbeltCollector
      @RustbeltCollector  ปีที่แล้ว +29

      All plastic is some level of toxic. This is PVC, so it’s best to let them off gas in a well ventilated room once they come in the mail. Beyond that, it’s very hard to say. But given the high quality of production, I’d say you’re probably safe.

    • @xSoulhunterDKx
      @xSoulhunterDKx ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It depends on the company and Distributor.
      I buy bricks from various different companies and most are actually producing in China (even Lego). The plastic they use is ABS (like Lego) and they clearly know how to Manufacture them. GoBricks for example is basically on par if not better then Lego itself nowadays.
      Only Cobi and Simba Bloxx are producing (100%) in Europe so why should I buy expensive Lego Sets (well the figs are the only reason for me).
      Anyway: I saw plenty of Clonetrooper Variants of those Troopers on Aliexpress and they honestly all looked fine. I Imagine China itself does have an eye out looking for ppl using lead. Never encountered lead paint in any way or form when i bought things from china. The plastic usually is very good too.
      I guess some companies just produce stuff for western companies and those products we see there are probably from another Production line, if not actually handmade in a lot of cases to earn some bucks.

    Now Got to admit when I look at my clone shelf, my eyes seem to gravitate toward my bootleg commander Bow and Appo figures. They look awesome. Shame how the bootleg companies are making a better selection of clones then what hasbro is. Hasbro still hasn’t put the 501st clone on the new body mold yet but they have. Crazy, to me it’s a better 501st fig then the original today. And of course the plus is they are still cheaper then hasbro. Yet days of getting a 6 inch clone for $10 is gone even in bootleg unless ur getting 3.75 inch. But seeing prices hasbro putting on just one figure nowadays with barely any accessories is ridiculous. Like $34 for their gamerverse Spider-Man with only 2 extra hands, and only 1 web slinging hand at that, and a few generic webs. We seen black series starting to get these crazy prices to. Not entirely related but it's a classification in a sense for really good->really bad. Although I use it for legos I think could be used for really anything.
    Legos(excellent)
    Alternative Legos(also excellent)
    Boot legos(pretty good there is definitely some issues but overall it's average)
    Bootlegos(really bad)

    I absolutely do not believe for one second these will have any sort of lead based paint on them.
    You can find children's toys from the 40s which don't have lead on them, Lead was much more common before the 1910s.

  • @johnconnor4094

    The bootleg company is doing better than hasbro on getting product out to customers, now, I havent finished the vid yet so dont know if they have lead paint, but if they did, that would suck, as they seem to be getting stock out in a timely manner compared to hasbro, which is failing hard right now.

    If I recall when the big lead paint thing that happened around when the cars two movie come out, the people that were involved with that that were in China or beheaded on TV. Because Mateo got hit by a real bad with that and I remember seeing Todd McFarlane going over there and inspecting his stuff as well.

      "He is the second high-profile fatality of a growing "Made in China" consumer safety scandal, following the execution last month of the former head of the food and drug watchdog."
      "the government has made an example of the known culprits. In an unusually harsh sentence, the head of the food and drug safety administration, Zheng Xiaoyu was executed last month for accepting bribes in return for approving medicines that later proved to have deadly side effects."
      Not sure if that is the guy you are thinking off, and that wasn't about toys, but the "second" fatality hung himself was about lead paint in toys.
      Had to recall millions of toys and had his business license revoked.
      Article i'm seeing says it was about Sesame Street toys from Mattel. ooof... actual kids stuff too, not like a Star Wars Adult Collector line.

    Just seal it in a matte finish if it was lead paint 💀 if it’s supposed to be shiny use a glossy finish

    • @RustbeltCollector
      @RustbeltCollector  ปีที่แล้ว

      That wouldn’t be a 100% safe solution, however they do not contain lead paint. So that’s good. The matte sealer could still help seal any harmful off-gassing from the PVC plastic.

    WoW you are paranoid, even if there was traces of lead in the paint on them,just don't lick the figures or insert them in your body & you should be fine lmao 😂😂😂😂

    • @RustbeltCollector
      @RustbeltCollector  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Not paranoid at all. Lead can be absorbed through your hands as well, and many customizers asked me to check since they drill into the bodies, remove the paint, and many other things. So handling said toxic material would be even more unsafe. Lead is not something you want to play around with, hence why many toys have been recalled due to lead paint.
