I've been to Meghalaya. I call it world's most beautiful places on Earth. Even Nat Geo does too. I like the self reliance & natural beauty. I've never seen so much women working in the night in the remotest part of our country. I had awesome experience in Meghalaya. & I've been to khasi & had interaction with awesome people of that place.

Khasi culture is really rich, it should be spread all across the world. When the old lady said "it's not a harm to be women in khasi community", it almost startled me Beacause I always thought being girl is tough and being girl in India is toughest but I was not knowing about this community. Know I can say that there is a place in India where womens are respected more than men's and even they are head of there family.. 🇮🇳 I want to visit and live for days in this community..
I think in whole India Women are respected more than men. What is new here is women hold more economical power here then men. Here parents don't invest in boys study as his earings will go to his wife's house. This is true .

Not only Khasi tribe,the Garo tribe of Meghalaya also follows matrilineal society. Northeast Indian states are the only states in India where there is no dowry system,honour killings etc..I am proud to be an assamese and part of northeast India.
Yeah but on devorce husbands are simply kicked out with clothes they are wearing. 👏🏻 No body cares for alimony to maintain his life as par with before marriage. Dv happen on these men more often but again who cares cos it is men.

Matrilineality should not be confused with matriarchy. Women only inherit property and that's why they are respected there. The youngest daughter is only the custodian and not the guardian of the property. Men are the earning members of the family and women do housework as in rest of India. Also women have extremely low political participation here.

You forget that such system has also problems. Parents don't invest in boys education, boys are considered second gender, boys leave school to be a labor more often. How is it any good then problem we face today for women & girls. Only difference is it is men who face it & now it suddenly become attractive?

लड़की अगर लड़के के घरवाले के खिलाफ कुछ बोलती भी है तो उसे ही बदनाम किया जाता है, कि लड़की अच्छी नहीं है।
लड़की को किसी का साथ नहीं मिलता, जबकि लड़के को उसकी माँ, बहन, उसका पूरा परिवार साथ देता है।
पता है क्यों , क्योंकि लड़का कमाऊ पुत्र होता है, उसे वंश को आगे बढ़ाने वाला कहा जाता है, मुँह में आग देनेवाला कहा जाता है।
इतनी value अगर लड़के को मिलेगी तो उसका तो घमंड रहेगा ही। फिर ओ पूत चाहे जितना भी चरित्र का गन्दा हो , उसे कोई किसी का डर नहीं।
