It only makes sense for there to be Midwest reenactment groups. The Midwest was the stomping grounds of one of the West's most notorious gangs, The James-Younger Gang. Going back even further, at one point Ohio was considered the western frontier and had it's share of rapscallions. Starting in the early 1800s, it really is amazing how quickly the country started to grow westward in the relatively small time frame that it did.
I love how each set of people chose a different role of characteristics based on how the old west was like.😊

He has about 50 hats. It was about 100 degrees when we shot it, so he chose the right hat.

I worked for the Ohio old West fest last summer.(I was the one that got hung) I got to work with wild west productions and it was pretty cool watching them unload the Gatling gun.

This was so fun to watch. I watched it first on Saturday morning while I waited for about a dozen antelope to try to make their way into the hay field I was hiding by. That looks like a lot of fun plus keeping history alive. I think renactments should be part of school history lessons . If the kids were part of it they might enjoy it more and a great learning tool.

I have a FB friend in the UK by the name of Lee Reid who not only sings in a rock band but he has been doing old west reenacting for years. They do a cowboy camp and an Alamo reenactment. I'm sure he would love to do something with y'all!!

I'm from Missouri. And it depends on who you talk to if we are Mid-West or South.
All I know is geography gives me a headache.
The way I've heard it described, is Missouri is too South for the North, too North for the South, too East for the West, and too West for the East.

I wanted to recommend that you check out a little about Brazil's own "Wild West" (which was actually in our North-East)! There is a movie about the region back then and the outlaw life there on Netflix, called "The Killer"! I hope you guys like it!!

Check out Canon's Limited in Ohio. They produce full scale operational cannons of the 18th and 19th century. They also produce the carriages and wagon wheels. They are one big thrill on the 4th.

Wonderful video. If you ever get the chance to fire a cannon or gatling gun, take the opportunity. Being the son of a gunsmith, I've had the opportunity to do both. It's a lot of fun to fire both weapons.

I just joined Circle D Rangers here in Indiana. We ride the Whitewater Valley Railroad out of Connersville to Metamora where we put on a couple of gunfights. On the way back to Connersville, we "rob" the train (take up a collection for Reily Children's Hospital), stop the train and have a gunfight in the town of Laurel. I absolutely love it. A lot of good folks!

Ah, the midwest! I was raised in southern Missouri, which I consider the midwest. I worked for a while in northern Pennsylvania, they thought I was a southerner. I lived in Tennessee for a while and they thought I was a northerner. I've lived in Arizona for nearly 50 years and they think I'm an easterner. Who can figure? My present perspective sees the Ozark Plateau where I grew up as more southern in culture, language, etc. than I realized.

Build your self a cannon. In michigan smooth bore black powder no paper work needed. We made a 6 pound mountain howitzer. Civil War. Also a ships cannon and a 3 inch rev war. Buy the barrel and build the carriage.
