No, Stan Lee never did that. Marvel Comics never did that. There are many authors with a target audience of young people who also never did that and who don't do that. I plan to write books and comics in the future and I won't ever talk down to children with my books, either.
Reading comics as a youth helped me in a myriad of ways. I learned important life lessons, learned to set goals for myself, learned the importance of formulating a plan for my life, learned new words and was able to expand and improve my vocabulary, etc.
I think that some people who have never read a comic book would be truly amazed by the things that you can learn from reading comics(that is, if they're the right ones, just like if someone is reading the right kinds of books).
As Superman actor(but he might be a former Superman actor now, I'm not sure)Henry Cavill said, Super Heroes, even though they're fictional characters are great role models for people(because what they stand for is real). As Cavill said, they're the perfect models for how to behave and how to conduct one's self and how to treat other people. I have no problem telling people that many of my role models are fictional comic book characters(along with a lot of real people, too, obviously).
Stan was indeed a legend and one of a kind. He was always one of my role models growing up and Stan Lee is still one of my role models and an inspiration for me(you're never too old to have role models and to be inspired). Great and intelligent conversation with these kids!
      .

Arun G But even Stan Lee understood that everyone could relate to Spider-Man and not just someone like him. He frequently cites in interviews that people of color see themselves in him sometimes more than actual ethnic characters because since he has a full bodysuit, he could be any race.
Artists like Mark Bagley draw him somewhat androgynous looking, so a lot of girls I knew could see themselves in him too,

Those Kids were born in the late 1960s and early 1970s and 80s were probably watching the cartoons and some of live action tv shows like Spider-Man and Hulk with Nicolas Hammond and Lou Ferrigno. Also late 80 kids and early 90 kids was watching X-men the animated series and Spider-Man the animated series. But in my generation when my Dad took me to see the very first X-men movie and Spider-Man movie when I was four and Six years old and Iron Man at 12 it made me that I got to be a Marvel fan. But my Dad was a DC fan he knew about Superman and Batman because he didn’t know anything about Marvel until he heard it all over the news. Because my Father was born in the early 50s

I was one of these kids in the early 70's that had a chance to be on the children's show Kids are people to on the 1970's and Stan Lee was the guest he was Awesome and talked the same way to us like he did in this clip.
The Host of the show at that time was Geraldo Rivera.

Marvel was always more insteresting because you cared about the human side of the hero just as much or even more than the super hero side of the character. The everyday human issues and problems were highlighted just as much as fighting the bad guy. Simply put Marvel made the characters remind you and you and they couldnt lose with that approach..NOW Marvel is a joke but bitd, when continuity matters and the company was private is when they were at their best. Once shareholders entered the picture it was all down hill. The last great story like was the infinity gauntlet. Been a $hit show ever since.

I would poing out older comics marvel and DC were like reading books they had dull pictures huge narration and wordings and stories covering every page. Marvel and DC gave characters novels at first not comics. The comics now rely on alot of beautiful images. But if the modern comic lovers saw what comics were like back in day they feel as if there school novel lol. Bill is disrespectful
