I just saw another story on a shigella outbreak. People picked up the illness shigellosis from contaminated parsley used in dishes at some nice restaurants in MN. As the investigation discovered, the parsley came from a farm/processing plant in Mexico where it was sprayed with water before shipping, and the water filtration in the county had been damaged by vandalism. So it's an illness that anyone can catch anytime, through no fault of their own.

It's terrible to consider that this new Shigella scares everyone on the street, a highly contagious disease, but they will share needles and glass pipes.
It’s not new. Been around forever. It’s dysentery. They just gave it a new fancy name . People were dying from it wayyyyyy back before they had toilets in the home. Back when everyone publicly went in open cesspools or in Pans that they then tossed down onto the streets below. It’s a disgusting and totally preventable disease. If these cities can’t stop homelessness they need to put out porta Johns and maintain them for the safety of the public. I hate to say it but we need to bring back huge institutions to house the homeless. Large warehouses converted to rooms . It would be more cost effective then allowing homelessness and all the diseases that go with it. The governments everywhere can afford this. Along with universal healthcare. Don’t let them convince you otherwise. They and they alone are to blame . I’m not saying they are responsible for people’s addictions (but they are in a way) when you consider it was them that allowed and continue to allow drugs to be brought in but they are definitely responsible for all these people living in the streets. Allowing all these ridiculous rents is another issue. I’m all for a landlord making a profit on their dwellings but what we are seeing since the pandemic is just greed and highway robbery plain and simple. The government is allowing for mass distinction of its citizens. We are all royally up the creek without a paddle. It’s only going to get worse. In the meantime. Wash those hands! And why anyone would walk around out in public without a mask on these days is beyond me. With so many homeless everywhere along with addiction, disease is spreading everywhere at an alarming rate. Yet I see people coughing and sneezing without covering up. Spitting on the streets. Putting fingers in their mouths or noses then touching everything you touch behind them. Rule in my home is shoes off before crossing the threshold long before Covid even became an issue. Can you even begin to imagine the horrific things you walk on daily that you bring into your home with your footwear? If you thought about it. Really thought about it, you’d never allow anyone to enter your home with footwear on.

I had never heard of it, but within a couple days of a few kids having it, the entire staff and I had it. One of the biggest dangers is becoming extremely dehydrated from it. It was horrible and for a while we just got it again and again. I am a very dedicated hand washer nowadays.
Living in filth breeds disease. What a surprise. We've spent millions trying to help these people but it appears that most prefer to stay on the street where they can freely use drugs rather than go to a shelter or try to find a path out of homelessness. It's very sad, but they most won't help themselves no matter how much we offer to support them. It's a drug and mental health problem, and that problem cannot be solved by pouring millions into programs few will use. Let's help those who will actually try to better their situation. And let's stop crying for the ones who prefer a drugged-out homeless lifestyle over shelters, jobs, and transition services.
Shelters are not safe, they don't allow animals, they have very restrictive rules. Most homeless people have jobs. Why don't we meet people where they are? Why do we tell them they have to give up their best friend, be clean, be sober, attend a religious service, in order to get a roof over their heads for a few hours? How about we get them under a safe roof, first, and then help them solve their issues.
@@juresichj So the drug addicts who don't want to be sober should be treated better then women in domestic violence shelters? Maybe they should also get a chocolate on their pillow, their bed turned down & room service? Nobody in this video had a job. Homelessness and drug use appears to be skyrocketing, even in places where drugs are illegal. I won't pretend to know the answers here, but it sure has gotten crazy.
It's actually common in MN IMHO. I had a leafhopper in My Cordova at a decent restaurant, or so I thought...

Tough love is needed to clear the streets. Give homeless three choices: shelter, jail, or ticket out of town.
It worked for Boise, Idaho.
That is stupid, out of town where to? The next city they puke up? Great strategy!

It is called liberalism
It's called poor hygiene and lack of health consciousness. Something many conservatives and liberals have in common.
In the 1970s I worked in a residential care center for handicapped children. Many wore diapers and shigella spread wildly there one summer. I had never heard of it, but within a couple days of a few kids having it, the entire staff and I had it. One of the biggest dangers is becoming extremely dehydrated from it. It was horrible and for a while we just got it again and again. I am a very dedicated hand washer nowadays.
Turns out modern plumbing saves more lives than doctors, convincing these fine folks to utilize is another problem
All that lack of basic pubic health has consequences. What a shocker
Yeah drugs. Staying dirty is their full-time job 💯
Makes you wonder how many unreported cases of Shigella they have in San Francisco.
Well said.
