For sure, with the Xpeng P7 being a prime example. It was unique and striking when released back in 2020, and single handedly catapulted Xpeng from a fledging startup into relative successes. Today the face lifted P7i fares only a tad above the average among the sea of competitors.

The cut off wheel doesn't interrupt the view of the instrument cluster, or in this case screen. From a drivability perspective though, I don't see how it would be a positive. Give me a standard wheel, and recessed instrument cluster, to protect from the sun, any day. Also separate AC controls with physical buttons I can use without taking my eyes off the road, and not integrated solely into the infotainment screen.
Three fingers on the lower screen can adjust fan speed and temp. More specifically, a three finger up/down adjusts the temperature, and left/right adjusts the fan speed. (Same on the L7) It's actually pretty user friendly. Also, the standard steering wheel as seen on the L7 is available free of charge.
He actually didn't show the more useful functions of light projection, which can be used at night. If you are in a narrow alley, the DLP can project a band of light in front of the car exactly the same width as the car, to help make sure you don't scrape the side of the car. On the road, it will project your next navigation step right onto the road in front of you. And most impressive of all, if the car detects a pedestrian or someone on bicycle/moto in the dark, it will do a small flash to alert you and then project an ARROW pointing at the pedestrian to make sure you see them!

The built in Nav is terrible so I use my phone most of the time. I was in Shenzhen few months ago and test drove the Avatr11 by Huawei , just OMG. I will be moving back to China soon and will be buying the Avatr12 ( the new but no released yet sport 4 doors ) Nio on the hand is absolutely amazing due to battery swap, which makes choosing which to buy very very difficult.
Avatr has the best autonomous driving tech from Huawei and Changan's styling department really hit it out of the park for all their brands recently. Although the ET5 Touring is just extremely conventionally beautiful. In a way NIO's somewhat bland but very well chiseled styling language reminds me of peak BMW design language of the 1990s right before the controversial Bangle Butt/Flame Surfacing era (not to mention BMW's current beaver tooth designs). Although sales wise, Li Auto is solidly number 1 right now in terms of premium NEVs in the Chinese market. They look bland but are well executed, well built, and selling like hotcakes. Their next gen pure EVs should be coming out too over the next 12 months.

I know they design the pop-out door handles to be able to break through a bit of ice, I'm guessing that one is the same. Still, I totally get why people think it's a bit over-complicated for something that needs to work reliably whenever you call upon it.
They're not the first brand to do it, and I doubt they will be the last. I'm not sure I'd call it useful, but if you're looking for something to entertain your kid, it's perfect.
i don t get this too..........why a steering weel like this ?? the design is futuristic but not PRACTICAL for every day use. i love the interior so bright and modern....but some designs must be FIXED for more practicality.
Exterior is a hybrid of the Tesla Model Y and a Nio but the size and windshield of a Model X.😁 They should have removed the rear slope for possibility of third row seats or just tall rear space. Anyways, impressive and huge at this price!
That windshield will cost you a fortune to replace. Seems great until you catch a stone. Appeals to first car buyers who've never made bad experiences I guess.

Its a shame the great looks of the sedan are lost in the SUV, not unattractive, but definitely not as distinctive. I don't think we've seen a car succeed an integrating the LIDAR convincingly yet either, I think its one of the things that slightly ruins the proportions of this car.
