Ive comeback to this plenty of times, like you said the drum rack can grow over time. I got a beatstep pro and ableton, this worked so well for it when i first started. Eventually used some other samples to make my own drum rack. And just cant stop makin tweaks to this day. Thank you so much for sharing this!
I absloutely love this approach. And i managed to build my own drumbox watching this ste by step. Such fun en joy. Thank u so much for this! One thing i cant figure out is how you play melodic parts and basslines. Every sample plays at C3 whitin the drumrack. I tried changing the setting to ' receive and play all notes' whitin the drumrack's i/o, but then the pad is gone form my drumrack and with that also all the macro's like sect sample, ADSR etc. What did i miss on the building off the bassbox en synthbox?
Thanks for watching! So glad you enjoyed the video. So with melodic parts, I'm not using a drum rack at all. For that, I'm using the Sampler instrument. You could also use Simpler, but you'll be limited to just one sound source. If you use Sampler, you can load up as many samples as you want. From there, you can map the sample select to a macro and you're off to the races. Start the video at 14:00 and you'll see that demonstrated. I also demo these racks in my Sample Pack video, which I recommend watching if you want to do some cool glitchy stuff with your new drumbox. Hope that helps, feel free to ask any more questions if you get stuck :)
