Q&A With Clinton Anderson: Should You List a Horse's Sale Price Up Front

- Question: I am trying to sell one of my horses. When I tell a buyer about her, I try to give a lot of details about her training, her vet history, and her background before giving my price. I watched the video where you described how to present training to the public ... you present by details first and then lastly price. What questions should I be asking? I am very frustrated with the process of selling horses. People don't seem to care how much work I put in or how much this mare knows. I had one guy today tell me I wasted his time because I gave him too many details and ignored his price question. I purposely waited until the end to say the price. Am I doing something wrong? I'd rather keep the horse than sell her cheaply to a trader. Could you give examples of what to look for and how to sell horses?
Good info. Thats how i sold my German Shepherd puppies. Start with the price and it sorts out alot of the 'tire kickers' and saves everyones time.
Exactly 🙌
Hello Clinton i love this video you share a lot of tips and tricks I love it😊
Great advice!!
Well stated !
I have a question for you. How do you get capital to start your own barn. I have been at this on and off professionally for 30ish years working for other people in their barns, but have never had the funds to start my own gig. I can take the most crazy horse and stand on their back and make them safe easily, but I have never been able to capitalize on it because people don't really want to pay for good trainers.
What do you do for 2.5 hours a day with a horse? Is it better to work all that time at once or a couple sessions in one day?
On his youtube training videos he kind of explained that, he'll basically split the training in half. Do an hour then come back later and do another hour. He would work one in the morning then come back that evening and work with it. It does help the horse soak in the lesson for the day by going back over it and making sure he understood. Definitely don't spend 2 1/2 hours all at once, the horse will literally hate you and hate working for you.
If I was interested in purchasing a horse from you, where would I go to see their advertisement?
You can learn more about the program and see available horses on our website clintonandersonperformancehorses.com/ Thanks!
