    As we watched this video, I made a comment to my wife …”you know, John doesn’t put out so many videos like most other TH-camrs,. But any videos he put out, they are very deep; have meaningful content. John always speak from his heart, his soul.” We really enjoy watching your videos. Please keep us informed of your “adventure” in Da Nang, Vietnam. Thank You John and see you in the next video.

    A Vietnamese poet once wrote
    "Khi ta ở chỉ là nơi đất ở
    Khi ta đi đất bỗng hóa tâm hồn" (Chế Lan Viên)
    Literally translated as
    "The place we live is just a land to live
    When we leave, it becomes our soul"
    Saigon is kind of my city too since I had lived there for almost 20 years. There are always good and bad but they all are our memories. At least you move to a better city, Danang, which also happens to be my home town that I lived for the first 8 years of my life. I am looking forward to seeing more great videos from you. Thank you!

      So nice! Thank you so much for sharing that lovely poem. The Vietnamese language is so expressive and romantic in many ways. I totally agree with that theme. Hi, I just stumbled across your channel. I enjoyed the video. My wife is from Can Tho and I love going there to visit her family. I have been able to travel over Vietnam quite a bit over the years and there is always adventures and great memories to be made there. Tomorrow will be two years since we have been gone. We never thought we'd be gone for so long, but who would have known that a pandemic was about to strike. We are hoping to be able to come back sometime later this year if the borders reopen. I've subscribed to your channel and looking forward to following you. Safe and happy travels to you!

    I like your style very much, and I will be interested to see whether you include Da Lat in your future videos. I aim to investigate Da Lat as a future retirement location as soon as possible when the pandemic has eased. I am an English guy living in Spain at the moment. Also, I am intrigued by the camera equipment you use to film yourself walking along! You appear to be holding a device in one hand which "controls" the remote camera, but there is no visible "selfie stick" or equivalent! Forgive me if you have already explained this elsewhere, but I have never knowingly spotted such a device anywhere else.

    Just got back from Da Nang. It's a big beautiful city, but I don't always understand its urban planning. Very different from my Nha Trang. Over the weekend, I met a huge number of expats in various cafes or just on the street, BTW

    • @wyntran8036
      @wyntran8036 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm sure you are referring to the nonstop crazy construction with respect to the "urban planning." Why don't you be more honest? There is no urban planning in Danang, just mass construction which makes it a very dangerous place. And the expats in Danang are toxic.

    • @UshleppeStreet
      @UshleppeStreet 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wyntran8036 I can't argue or agree because this was my second visit to the city in 2 years. I have seen many construction sites all over the place, but see this in Nha Trang as well. And I like the Hải Châu area. It's pretty understandable and neat. But what you said about toxic expats intrigued me. What do you mean? Are they rude, evil, unsociable or something?

    • @wyntran8036
      @wyntran8036 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@UshleppeStreet Nha Trang's construction is minor and normal. I have never seen construction like I have in Danang. It's insane. I've seen 10m x 10m holes 10m deep on the main beach road in front of Apocalypse Now as one example. No real barriers or lights either. The construction is so crazy that the public safety is far worse than in Saigon. Danang is probably the most dangerous beach city in the world due to the construction. The expats are not necessarily rude. There tends to be a toxic atmosphere that develops in many smaller cities in SE Asia when you have western expats. There is a lot of envy and drama, etc. You aren't going to run into this sort of thing in the larger cities like Saigon. I always avoid expats in Asia. If you want trouble, hang around expats.

Everything I make is from either producing content for channels, livestreaming, 360 content and training. When I see a city like this in transformation to modernity , meaning 30 storey plus buildings replacing the old beautiful human scale three to five to ten story buildings I feel very sad . There is something cold and stark and inhuman about skyscrapers . Saigon looks like it is going from a beautiful old city village to a heartless concrete jungle . I remember an old Singapore taxi driver saying how much he loved the old Singapore over the new .
    Maybe its just me ....☹️

    Fellow old school UTuber Chuck Mynitti has been in Danang for a few years, how about you 2 do a collaboration? I'd like to see how each of you view DaDang.

      "Collaborations" are for losers, by losers. Smart people do not hook up with other people because they will be linked to those people and often those people end up being scammers and criminals. Only fools ask for "collabs." John is just fine on his own.

    Can you tell a little bit about your income and visa? How much does it cost to live in Vietnam, how does a foreigner get a (passive) income there to live and how about the visa for staying there so long? I'm thinking of moving there but still have so many questions..

      You should watch videos from Expats Everywhere channel. I remember they have a video answering all your questions about cost-living in Vietnam.

      Thanks very much and especially appreciate you sharing your story as there are many people that have found themselves in the same position. Can Tho is such a wonderful place with amazing kind hearted people. I hope you’re able to return this year!
