    Fountain pens are another addicting hobby like stamps! Interesting video about lost airfields, there are more out there than we realize. You should do a video about old post offices as sometimes the building gets converted into something else. The old one in my town that has a WPA mural, was converted to a restaurant. I’m sure there are more like that with interesting features.

    Always love your videos! The information about the Hadley Airfield was fantastic history. It is always interesting how these tiny stamps capture a moment in time and they are just waiting for someone to discover it again. Looking forward to seeing more!

    Mystery solved -- finding that stone marker must have felt deeply rewarding. Those are some impressive detective skills. And what's cool about this episode is if someone who isn't a stamp collector stumbles across it, they'll come away understanding that #philately can be a fun and exciting experience.

    • @ExploringStamps
      @ExploringStamps  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

  • @leslieselby5270

    Graham, another great video. I see Laura is still cleaning up and keeping you focused when you make #philately videos! The research rabbit holes are definitely a challenge since you can spend hours on line and in books exploring related topics. However, the rabbit holes can create brand new opportunities for the collector. When I was doing research on the Graf Zeppelin flights I found discussions on revenue from air mail on the zeppelins. That sideline actually lead to a 4 frame exhibit on Airships as Big Business.

    • @ExploringStamps

      Making up a little collection of covers/cards where the "old" postal service was quicker than the current one is a fun little sideline. It's surprising how far back in history that can go... ; )

    Hello, Graham! Another great video as always. I haven't done anything local with collecting yet, but I would like to start a project involving closed post offices in my native Pennsylvania. My grandfather and I went to a tiny post office that closed a few years ago (West Lebanon). I have many a postmark from there (and even more memories!). So I think it would be fun to start on similar places and learn about the locations and histories of them. Also, great coffee choice. Dunkin is my favorite! ☕

    Very interesting how everything is changing. Regarding the airfield: We have nearby something similar, an airfiled which existed only between 1910 - 1914 in Puchheim near Munich. I haven´t met anyone knowing the fact, that there existed an airfield. But it was not for postal delivery, it was just for fun. With the beginning of WW 1 they closed the airfield. Today you can play tennis, go to the beergarden and you have other sports facilitys and you don´t see anything from the airfield, like in your video with the Hadley airfield. They arranged shows there with up to 20.000 visitors in the four years it existed. All gone and even when you search the internet you find not much. Ich have a link where you can find a view of the airport from an old postcard on the right side (Text: Ansichtskarte vom Puchheimer Flugplatz und Umgebung): de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puchheim. I like such forgotten places and the two letters you presented were really wonderful. Post from a different time.

    • @ExploringStamps
      @ExploringStamps  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Isn't that incredible? The fact that something could exist like your airfield that attracts a crowd of 20,000 visitors, and now there is no evidence of it and it is completely forgotten. Wow. Thank you for sharing that Oliver, it proves that there are many of these forgotten airfields and other lost landmarks out there. 😊

    I'm driving myself insane looking for a video you made that was talking about zeplin stamps. You say you think they'd be rare but they aren't. It wasn't the video focusing on those stamps either... I feel like it was this video but I can't find it again.

    • @ExploringStamps
      @ExploringStamps  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm, the only zep video I did was from season 3. Are you sure that you aren’t thinking of a different channel, maybe Mallard or Ted?

    • @MrMagicman00100
      @MrMagicman00100 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No it was you. And it wasn't focused on that. You mentioned it for less than 1 min but it caught my attention. Maybe a random mail call video..well your views on most vids are gonna go up by one until I find it.

    • @ExploringStamps
      @ExploringStamps  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      🤔 I’ll keep thinking as well, I’d guess it was a mail episode. 😅 yes please keep the views coming and let me know if you find it!

    its "all by myself" not just "by myself" >_< myself is not a substitute for I or me they each have their place. I wasn't going to say anything but it happened several times in the video :(
