Great video thank you for this. I managed to install Win11 according to this instruction on a Esxi 6.7 U2 . However - Microsoft seem to changed that you have to Create an account even if you choose Windows 11 Pro. I was forced to create an Outlook account and never saw the "offline" option - so I just created a test account and it worked just fine!
That is likely due to the version of Windows-11 or ESXi you are using. Also, make sure you hit Enter at the early prompts, since they can lead to confusion.
Very interesting that you have to use the workaround for Win11 on VMWare. I would have expected a virtual TPM option to be available. After seeing this, I guess it's just one more reason to stick with Proxmox VE. I would expect by the end of 2022 ESXi will likely have this option. I have heard that Virtualbox will get a virtual TPM in the next version as well.
I think you can add a virtual TPM in vCenter server, but not from ESXi. I've read articles about it, but I don't want to setup vCenter or buy licensing just to try it out (although you still have the eval time to try it). In VMware player you can add a line to the VMX file and then a virtual TPM device will show up for you to install Windows 11.
Jeremy, yes I was somewhat surprised myself, but since they gave out 'Free Licenses', I suspect having a Virtual TPM is not a priority at this time. We will need to see what they put out with the next version. Also, I believe during my Live Stream I mentioned how I saw videos where Windows 11 was loaded without a hick-up on ESXi. I went back and re-watched a couple of them, and it seems like they were install 'Enterprise' flavors of Windows 11, where not having a TPM seems to be fine.
Thanks. This worked. I've read about adding TPM in hardware, but didn't see it available. I'm on version 8.0 of ESXI as well so I'm would think the latest version would handle Windows 11. Do you know if this will happen on Server 21
Excellent video. Will Win11 run without a license key or do you have to get one from a 3rd party source? If it does run without the key, what are you missing out on if you don't have one?
It will run for all normal uses, however you will have a water-mark in the lower right-hand corner of the screen and you will not be able to establish custom profiles.
@@moulayahmedarahhali6085 The version does matter, so I am making sure I keep the version that will support the feature I need (since some feature were removed in later revisions).
I will be courteous her. To explain a process as complicated as this one, I cannot use a Short. I know everyone these days days seem to solve a problem in 60-secs, however that is NOT reality. Creating a VM is not trivial, and I would be doing a disservice to my viewers to try and squeeze something like that into a ridiculous time-line.
David - this is an exceptional video! So well thought out and delivered. I love the registry hack to get around the TPM issue. Well done!
Thank you Tony 🙂
I am new to using VMware, this was very helpful. Very well done. Thank you for creating this. Really appreciate the heads up on the TPM issue.
You are very welcome
Excellent tip to bypass the TPM
I'm glad it helped
That is pretty dope, I couldn't figure this out for a little while! cheers
Yes, it is dope, but doable 🙂
David!! - You are awesome, thank you! I was trying to Install a KMS and Key Provider, you saved my day.
I am very glad I could help. Thank you for the nice comment.
Excellent Video. Very informative for IT community especially those working with Servers and VMs.
I'm very glad you like it. Thanks for the comment

Thanks. Let me know how it works.
Well done, very complete and accurate! You’ve gained a subscriber!!
Thank you for your great comment. It is very much appreciated.
So this worked as expected on XCP-NG (Xen Server). Thanks again
No problem. Glad it worked. I just finished my VM Server and I am considering switching from VMWare ESXi to XCP-NG
Great video that helped me to install Windows 11 VM. Thank you.
You are very welcome. Thanks for this great comment.
Thank you for sharing the video!!! It saved me hours!!!
I'm glad it helped. Which version of ESXi are you using?
Thank you! You saved me .
You are very welcome. How many VMs do you have running in your server?
Thank you!! FYI, Since I was using the web console through vsphere, I had to press the windows key + shift + f10. Thank me later haha
Thanks for the information
Great tutorial. Thanks!
I'm glad I could help. Thanks for the nice comment.
Thank you so much! excellent video!
You are very welcome. Thanks you for both watching and taking the time to give such a great comment 🙂
Worked in VMWare ESXI 7!
Did you have to use the trick with the Windows Registry?

Yes, they hid that option. It's still there, but you have pick one of the other options to see it appear.
AWESOME .. This is exactly what I needed and each and every step in this video has helped .. THANK You very much 🙏🙏
You are very welcome. Thanks so much for the nice comment.
During the initial power up, when I send the escape key, I get a Boot Manager screen, not the windows logo like you show. ESXI Version 7.0.1

I think you can do the bypass from the CLI without using the reg edit.

I'm afraid I have not tired loading that version of ESXi, so I apologize for not being of any help.

Very helpful. I’m not using ESXI anymore but I’m assuming this will work on XCP-NG. Going to give it a try. Thank you.
There may be some minor changes, but it should work -eventually
Not working in ESXi 6.0.
Please help
Is there a specific reason you want to stay one full major version back from what I use (7.)?
For some reason it didnt work for me
What version of ESXi do you have. Many people have indicated they support different functions.
12.0.5 build-2274483
VM is on Version: 7.0.3

@@PE4Doers I have provided the version, i managed to pass that stage, now I cant see the allocated drive to run the installation
why so long video. too long. it could be e-mail.
