I was studying in Germany in 2003, and read in a guidebook about the medieval walled town of Bad Wimpfen in the Heilbronn district of Baden Württemberg, not too far from Mannheim, where I was studying. So one Saturday in early December I went there with my friend. There was a Weihnachtsmarkt (Christmas Market) that day, and all the medieval streets were lined with wooden booths and kiosks selling wonderful German crafts and gifts. It was a magical day, and I unexpectedly got all my Christmas shopping done in no time.

I remember the lovely trip I did to Germany and all that beautiful Towns, some made me feel as I was in a fairy tale. But one particulary I can't forget, It was a beautiful Summer sturday and I went to Rüdesheim, as a tourisric place It was crowded, but people were só happy that they were singing on the streets, It was contagious, even I try to follow the songs. We danced. It was like a dream coming true.

I was born in Lübeck and left the city at the age of 24. Lovely town. Since 1994 I live in Lüneburg. Considerably smaller than Lübeck but equally beautiful. Both cities were economically tied in the middle ages. There were salt mines in Lüneburg and the ‚white gold‘ was shipped from Lübeck harbour to all over Europe.

Between Hanover and the Ruhr Region is the location of East Westphalia, and in it you'll find the former principality of Lippe. A very rural county in the Teutoburg Forest with a few wonderful small cities such as the former capital Detmold, the old Hanseatic city of Lemgo, Blomberg, or the tiny but picturesque town of Schwalenberg. Lippe is not on everybody's list, but well worth a visit!

some of the listed town are very, very much off the beaten track. Lübben and Lübbenau are just interesting as a starting point for the Spreewald - a rural area with many canals. Warnemünde as shown is part of Rostock. And Rathenow is dispensable - rather visit picturesque Tangermünde nearby - even combing it with the brick romanesque monastry of Jerichow and the hanseatic city of Stendal only a fiew kilometers apart each.

Recently been to (Burg)Steinfurt, close to the Dutch border. Didnt even know it, just passed by on my way to Munster. Got out of the train on a whim and was amazed how low-key beautiful this town is. Amazing little castle on a small island in the river. Old town square with a beautiful town hall and houses in the iconic half-timbered style, one with a classic watermill. Lots of other things like a historic recreation park, the Bagno with more beautiful buildings and an idyllic lake. There are probably more well-known places, but that fame kind of ruins them in a way too, becasue you get the feeling you visit an "attraction" instead of a town. Nothing like that here. Hardly any tourists or commercial activity that ruined the scene and a very nice and quiet true village athmosphere. Highy recommend for about half a days worth of exploring.

what was about the f*cking plane?
the order of the list was a bit confusing becauce it was geographically jumping back and forth. Some of the town are actually close to each other and could be easily combined on a trip. For example: Wittenberg, Quedlinburg, Wernigerode, Naumburg are very close to eachother. The same way you could group Celle, Lüneburg, Stade, Schwerin, Wismar and Warnemüde. Nördlingen, Rothenburg and Dinkelsbühl are also conected by one road, roughly 30 km from each other.
when visitig Wartburg you should check out nearby Weimar and Erfurt as well.

Great video but I suggest the author to add a slide in the beginning about where the town is located in the map. Of course listeners can always look it up but looking up 25 towns when you mention them would not be the best way to enjoy your video. Geographic location is the most important attribute of any town, and you can’t omit it and start showing the buildings and histories. That’s like talking about somebody without knowing who it is you are talking about.

Being from Germany's neighbour country Austria, which gets a lot more tourists per capita, especially FROM Germany, as a kid I always thought Germany cannot be as beautiful as Austria, or why would all the Germans come here? Growing up I visited places like nearby Passau- very often for joining the Maidult parade- Dinkelsbühl, Rothenburg, Bamberg, Wittenberg or my favorite Nuremberg among others, and I really fell in love with these towns. I also love Munich and Hamburg, but this is already quite far away for me to drive. So Austria probably has some more nice nature scenery, but the medieval towns of Germany are really a beautiful sight, that everybody should See at least once in his life.

What is number 20? I could not locate it. I am looking for towns near the Czech border to do a day trip from Prague. Any recommendations?

Number 20 is Passau! Passau is in South East Germany and Bavaria. It‘s really close to the Czech border! A trip to Passau is really worth it! It‘s not too far away from Czechia!

To the north of Prague, there's Pirna in Saxony, a bit further north there's already Dresden and also Meissen. To the north-east of Prague, you could travel to the Upper Lusatia region (within Saxony) and visit Bautzen, Görlitz and Zittau.
To the west, southwest of Prague, you could travel to Amberg, Weiden, or of course to Regensburg in Eastern Bavaria.

If I were a foreigner who has never been to Germany, I wouldn’t be impressed by these towns. Because this footage isn’t really convincing. Oftentimes, you talked about cathedrals and castles but you didn’t show them. Same with the beautiful houses. You mostly filmed them from such a weird perspective where they kinda looked bland
