Something fishy... I live in Florida and no way in hell you fall asleep for that long in that environment unless you're shit faced. Anything is possible but why would you go hunting alone in the glades without a map especially since he didn't know the area. So easy to get lost there since most of it all starts to look the same in the areas of saw palmettos
Yeah I know right I made some pretty harsh comments until I saw the end of it where it said he passed away shortly after that and I feel kind of bad and deleted my comment
But he made some pretty dumb moves the first thing I said he did wrong is he went too far into the Everglades of place he didn't know then he lay down and went to sleep around all those snakes and alligators he went to sleep by his self
A little hiking trick .. I use survey tape and mark my path into the woods and remove the tape on the way out , I just have to explore off the beaten path .
I call flagging Turkey Tape!! Green People use it to Navigate. Gps is environment friendly. So is breaking tree branches, the Old timers would blaze a tree with a Ax. Cheers
The most dangerous kind of confidence is false confidence. The guy's story is important and I appreciate him sharing it. This is EXACTLY Why anytime I go trekking in the woods I always have bug dope on, gun, ammo, and FLORESCENT Colored tape to be able to mark a pathway back out!! That way no compass n map needed and No Way to get lost
Break a leg or an arm, concussion…it doesn’t matter…nothing is worse for the spirit than millions of relentless bugs attacking you ALL night long. You will do anything for a bug break that never comes. Black flies or mosquitoes will drive a man mad and break him down to nothing, extremely lessening his chances of survival.
Fall asleep in the swamp because you are tired of walking? WTF. No way, no how. Anyone who has ever taken even 3 steps into any swamp understands the immediate sense of dread and despair you get being that far out of your element. CalliNg BS on the nap! Pretty sure that would be impossible and probably the last thing on your mind! Seeing a couple moccasins would take care of that. All his equipment: compass, cell phone, flashlight were not of any use due to water. & had to abandon protective layers of clothing & weapon. He was a complete failure out there.. glad he survived. Edit: dang he passed away anyway...
Angela was hurt long, long, long ago. Now she can only be hateful. I wonder how much longer before 'karma' will catch up with her considering what she said a couple comments ago. 🤭
Experienced, veteran hunter and outdoorsman. Doesn't have a waterproof flashlight while walking into the Everglades.. Brokeback Everglades. More than a few meanings to this film.
Same thing with the two guys on the sinking boat who decided to leave an abandoned oil rig and swim for it, only to avoid to swimming to the next platform they encountered. Everyone so far has been an idiot who was also probably hammered.
At the end of the day, everybody has to pay for their sins. Hunting for providing food for the family is fine, lunatic hunters have to pay their price.

@Chanel Serasinghe I have a good knife in my purse as well as my daypack , as a hiker, fisher and southern woman it's just part of my gear.
Ya, makes no sense...

He had all his gear, all his confidence, but wasn't smart enough to stay close and get out before dark. Recklessness & Pride,a dangerous combination.
Oh yeah, a fatal combination ! Mother earth plays rough .
So sorry to hear about his death. An unforgettable and learning experience for sure.
I fell climbing a deer stand. Spent the night there. I know that feeling when you see rescue comes.

Obviously you don't think to highly of your boyfriend. If he marries you...disaster will follow.

Men are more likely to be risk takers. They need to do whatever it takes to earn a living.
