+Sydney Ennis Every time I hearthis song i just understand Alice! The rest is every time jgdhikhfrejkfli :D :D :D This was the firts time i understod the lyrics :D :D
According to Wiki: "The Nightmare Before Christmas originated in a poem written by Tim Burton in 1982, while he was working as a Disney animator. " So I guess he's already done it eh? It took a while for Disney to fund it but....
Their diction is very good, actually - they have perfect English accents, so if you are not English you might have trouble with it. Also, if you've ever sung in a choir, it's very hard to make your words clear when singing that high in pitch. The effect Elfman wants is that he is using the voices as an instrument mingling with the orchestra, not as a solo with accompaniment.
AAAAHHH YES I'M CRAZY OBSESSED WITH THIS MOVIE AND THIS SONG IS BEAUTIFUL (and tbh, I'm so obsessed with it that I can recite the whole movie beginning to end)
Alice in Wonderland is an example of just how powerful stories can become after a full century has passed and they've sat brewing. Sadly in terms of world history we are, as you might have guessed, only in the very beginning of this happening. The modern novel as we know it very much only had its birth period a full century and a half ago and in a way Alice in Wonderland was one of the only "interesting" "surreal" stories to come out at that time. It might sound like that was a long time ago, but in a way we got kind of screwed, because it wasn't..... The people who are around a century from now, or two centuries from now, are gonna really be having a blast with all the stories that are old by then.. .. I'm really jealous! They will have a multitude of interest songs tied in with literature like this one. We only have the few. Look at how Alice has traveled.... she is so far from jus those two little books now... its amazing. She's older than everyone else whose surreal or fantastical in our culture really. Certainly older than that Lord of the Rings gang. Alice will always be the great great grandmother of all the future "tripper" characters. There's no doubt in my mind that her legend shall still be enjoyed, widely, in the year 2800, or 2900,or even the next millennium 3000.... ALICE! OH ALICE!
Love Danny Elfman! I love anything played in minor! He's done most of Tim Burtons movies but he's also responsible for the Simpsons theme song! He uses VSL which he claims is his favorite to use. (Vienna symphonic library) Vienna strings are his fav!
A lot of people here are saying how the movie was bad. All Alice in Wonderland movies are terrible after you read the books. They're ridiculously good.
I never read the books, but I really liked the first movie. I feel like the average movie viewer goes into an Alice movie not expecting madness to unfold and so they get upset when it does. I enjoy the quirkiness quite a bit :p
the books are good but are a waste of time. yes, of course, the story goes on in it but alice wasted like 4 pages talking about how she thinks she turned into A DIFFERENT PERSON. ugh. i read that book for an hour and never even got to where Cheshire cat's at.
Alice Through the Looking Glass will be coming to theatres in Summer 2016! So be ready to have another magical adventure !! Characters- 😡🎩 👯 👸 👑❤️ 🐭 🐰 ☕️🐰 Can u guess any?
Alice in Wonderland II coming.... I love this song, makes me feel so good and so far away storm everything, just thinking how awesome must be to be ALICE in her wonderful and private world...I'm so jealous!
Despite Danny Elfman's comments that writing soundtracks is such bleeping hard work and he often thinks of quitting, I am SO glad he keeps composing. This song is evocative for me on many levels, particularly as an abuse survivor. Thank you Danny!
Thanks for taking the time to make this! The words to this song are INCREDIBLE! L.C. would be proud, I think. This song is very fitting with the book. Hats off to the composer and lyricist, as well!
you know, i never knew this song had lyrics until now. in the movie, i can't hear them saying anything, yet when i read along, it all sounds so clear and i wonder why i didn't hear it before.
The movie looked stunning. The acting was great. The soundtrack is lovely. The plot, the dialogue, and the character structures were what kept this movie from being a classic. Such is the way of Tim Burton's more recent works. Sigh.. Depp really dropped the ball on this one. They should have kept Crispin Glover cast as the Mad Hatter.
I dont care what people think about this movie, the music and the film itself is a classic. People that dont like something are the ones to speak louder than the ones that like it.
Good Christ. Danny Elfman did the opening for the Simpsons. Appreciate him. He is an amazing composer. Edward Scissorhands will all always be my favorite of his composures
This song highlights something within the ideology of wonderland, as much as it does in america mcgee's take on it, that wonderland does not exist without alice, and even in her rational mind, wonderland needs her to make sense of everything in it, both for herself and for wonderland itself. This is why in mcgee's telling, where alice is very much insane, it reflect in wonderland of her own madness.
Daniel Cook There's a second one coming, and I bet he won't make the same mistakes. :) Plus Helena was an amazing Red Queen and Depp was an amazing Hatter. It could be a bit better as a movie overall, but it I cannot say it wasn't high-quality work. Perhaps it wasn't a masterpiece, but it was a nice little adventure ^^
I agree; the soundtrack and visuals were beautiful don't get me wrong, but the interpretation was a little too sweet and pretty for me. Like it was all very fairy-tale like and whimsical, not strange/weird like Wonderland is commonly agreed to be. But hey, just my opinion though; my favourite interpretation is Alice Madness Returns, so I could just be biased ^^
I friggin love this song. My 15 year old friend and I (I am 13) will be doing this song for a student choreography routine for next year's competition season. Look for us in 2013!!
I really like her as Alice, but I don't really like the 'wonderland' of that series. Vale of tears was nice, but everywhere else was just "eh" since it didn't bring much wonderment. The series was mostly about trauma and mental corruption anyway.
I haven't played that game yet, but I want to! Was thinking of Let's Playing it; Would the gameplay be fun to watch for others? If not, I may just play it in my free time.
Personally, I loved it. I love Tim Burton, he's an artistic genius and there's only so many of those in this lifetime. And Danny Elfman, holy crap he is genius too. Put those two together and you have epic brilliance.
Marvelous!! the music is beautifull, the voices give me shivers, and the lyrics are pure Wonderland :3 I think only Lewis carrol himself could do the same or better
R.I.P. Alan Rickman, a wonderful caterpillar, an amazing wizard and a talented actor

+Sydney Ennis they have terrible diction
CarSVernon very true
Even when Burton fails Elfman never disappoints!
+princepeterwolf I have to agree....
burton did not fail:) he was producer of the movie..
Burton was the director :P
I loved the movie, but hey. To each their own.
+The Klespyrian same.
Danny elfman has never failed to make an amazing score for tim buttons movies and other ones. He is truly amazing!

@@VultureandtheDragonwow-I didn’t even notice that mistake, & I normally do! 😮
for some reason, i think this would be good for Coraline...
+Poison Rose (hellhound1776) //Yess! I love that movie.
Maybe for Coraline 2☺️
Coraline 2 will never come out. Luckily. Timothy is a director with more pride in his work to sink that low.
YAY
DANG YESSS
This song makes me feel protected and confident, but it scares me at the same time. It's the most fantastic song and the lyrics are very powerful.
Listening to this while playing *Alice: Madness Returns*
+Papy Jizass BEST GAME!
omg!!
perfect match!
Loved that game

I wonder what would happen if Tim burton was told to make a movie based on nothing but his imagination
It would be the ultimate Halloween movie .
According to Wiki: "The Nightmare Before Christmas originated in a poem written by Tim Burton in 1982, while he was working as a Disney animator. " So I guess he's already done it eh? It took a while for Disney to fund it but....
the scariest movie ever no thanks.
Edward Scissorhands was based on his childhood, he's not a credited screenwriter but the idea is his.
+Heraus Stormer
Just Halloween? Goths everywhere would make it their national movie.
I think some of his best work is based on his own ideas. I hope he starts doing that again.
Alice through the looking mirror was an astonishing movie! R.I.P Alan Rickman
*Alice Through The Looking Glass
I can agree ASTONISHING INDEED!
*Alice Through the Looking Glass
*Mirror
John Williams and Danny Elfman are the best composers of our day.
and Bruno (Coraline
And Howard Shore!
What about Bear McCreary?
Yes.
totally agree

I'm watching this because i saw the film with the live orchestra yesterday at Royal Albert Hall, it was amazing i cried so much throughout lol
DANNY ELFMAN IS A BLOODY GENIUS!!
Hauntingly beautiful
Danny Elfman is one of the greatest music composers alive.

Love Danny Elfman! I love anything played in minor! He's done most of Tim Burtons movies but he's also responsible for the Simpsons theme song! He uses VSL which he claims is his favorite to use. (Vienna symphonic library) Vienna strings are his fav!
This music reminds me of charlie and the chocolate factory C:
Danny Elfman rules. He did the nightmare before christmas too.
+Ash “Demon” Kinkaid and edward scissorhands
Crystal Fairy yep. He's awesome.I think he worked with NIN too...
mostvrma
Escuchar esto en vivo fue uno de los mejores placeres de mi vida entera, gran tema del gran Elfman.
Danny is a Genius ♥
this almost sounds the same as the charlie and the chocolate factory theme
Well it is Danny Elfman who composed both.
also same as the Double trouble in Harrypotter
at the begining, yeah
And Edward Scissorhands.. '-'
Talk about a rip-off!
Une Musique juste parfaitement réalisé! A chaque fois que je l'écoute, je m'en vais aux Pays Des Merveilles!
A lot of people here are saying how the movie was bad. All Alice in Wonderland movies are terrible after you read the books. They're ridiculously good.
Agreed
DrJohnZoidberg125 you should check out Alice in zombie land it's a good series like something Tim Burton would make
DrJohnZoidberg125 I agree

Tim Burton
@jcrickmanfan96
Yes, the first time I heard it... I thought: ''OMG, this is such a beautiful soundtrack!''
Tim Burton is a genius. As well as Danny Elfman who created this and many more of Tim's songs.
Temazo de Danny Elfman...!!
hm, how funny, this music kiiiiiiiinda reminds me of the soundtrack in American Mcgee Alice, the "village of the doomed"
KLAUS BAUDELAIRE AND SOUL EATER??!! I think I just died...FROM FANGIRLING FEVER

Icy Past Hahahah yes. I'm half way through all the wrong questions "Shouldn't you be in school?". It's amazing so far.
I completely love this song! Danny is one of my favorite composers!
And once again, Danny Elfman continues to amaze me with his beautifully composed music.
We're playing this in my orchestra so I wanted to hear the professional version. Amazing - I had no idea! Brilliant art, Mr. Elfman!
We are singing this song for our choir concert next month!!! Thank you Mrs. Riutherford for choosing this song!!!!
Every time I hear this I think "This score is genius!"
It did get a Golden Globe nod, but it lost to The Social Network.
MediaLover194 Pity, this was better.
Who is here still hearing this masterpiece in 2024?
Love this song
my favorite movie of course sir.
alejandro lopez same!
magistral!
Despite Danny Elfman's comments that writing soundtracks is such bleeping hard work and he often thinks of quitting, I am SO glad he keeps composing. This song is evocative for me on many levels, particularly as an abuse survivor. Thank you Danny!
the good ole days
I NEVER knew the lyrics. Thank you! I positively love this song!

Why are so many people hating on this movie and Tim Burton?!?
Lewis Carroll is shouting from his grave: Damn good job Mr. Elfman!
I dont care what people think about this movie, the music and the film itself is a classic. People that dont like something are the ones to speak louder than the ones that like it.
Love it.
***** :D
I could listen to that day by day
FINALLY I GET ALL THE LYRICS, THANK YOU SO MUCH, My family and I love this song so much, specially my little sisters
singing this Tuesday for my choir concert.
Good Christ. Danny Elfman did the opening for the Simpsons. Appreciate him. He is an amazing composer. Edward Scissorhands will all always be my favorite of his composures
This is one of the most amazing pieces of music I'm ever listened to. It's so beautiful and eerie and elegant
This song highlights something within the ideology of wonderland, as much as it does in america mcgee's take on it, that wonderland does not exist without alice, and even in her rational mind, wonderland needs her to make sense of everything in it, both for herself and for wonderland itself.

This is the greatest song I've ever heard.
As much as I love Tim Burton, Alice In Wonderland was a car crash of a film .
Very true and thankfully he has more than made up for it with both 'Frankenweenie' and 'Big Eyes'
Daniel Cook that ain't Danny's fault he's the best thing about that shit movie and Johnny of course
Daniel Cook There's a second one coming, and I bet he won't make the same mistakes. :)

cant wait for from the looking glass

Can't handle this awesomeness.
Alice Liddell from Madness Returns is the onliest Alice I know.
Hell yeah
I really like her as Alice, but I don't really like the 'wonderland' of that series. Vale of tears was nice, but everywhere else was just "eh" since it didn't bring much wonderment. The series was mostly about trauma and mental corruption anyway.
Don't tell me you weren't amazed by the cathedral and the queen's castle, they were just WOW
Sam Liddel Awe, yes. But I was mainly disgusted.
I haven't played that game yet, but I want to! Was thinking of Let's Playing it; Would the gameplay be fun to watch for others? If not, I may just play it in my free time.
Superb song by a composer at the top of his game. Eloquent and mysterious and multi-layered.
you know a song is good when it give you goosebumps when you listen to it.
Oh my god, my school orchestra HAS to get together with the band and play this! This would be so fun to play on my violin!!!!
this song is acturally amazingly brilliant
I love that theme!!!
This song brings memories back... I love it!
I love the movie and this song. Burton and Elfman are both Prue geniuses!
this is the best music from any film EVER!!! i really wanna do this for band soo badly!!!
Great music makes the movie.
10 WHOLE YEARS
I'm doing this song for Pulse Choir this year :)
May I ask, what is Pulse Choir?
Personally, I loved it. I love Tim Burton, he's an artistic genius and there's only so many of those in this lifetime. And Danny Elfman, holy crap he is genius too. Put those two together and you have epic brilliance.
A Tim Burton film starring Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter scored by Danny Elfman!!!
This is how a film can be considered "PERFECTION"!
Simply Amazing!!!
Marvelous!! the music is beautifull, the voices give me shivers, and the lyrics are pure Wonderland :3 I think only Lewis carrol himself could do the same or better
La canción del mundial 2010 Viva España!!!
In the second film the Red queen Is INSANE!
Domo Domo wasn't she always lol
brought me to tears
OMG the sondtrack is so epic !!!
God,Tim Burton is a genius,as is Danny Elfman,of course.
Wonderful. ♥ I get goosebumps every time.
I adore this (and the first of the two films)! Not the closest to the original text, but bang on in spirit and stylism.
I'm obsessed with this song lol x
Beautiful
I love this song it passes the time
