I just finished a playthrough as shanxi and was able to unite china. I would recommend giving shanxi a try. It was a pretty fun playthrough but also quite tedious honestly.

China IMO is done perfectly in KR. You spend till around 1940s/41 unifying China but then you've gotta build up! Pick a faction you want to win, and just give your entire equipment to them!
WHY CANT ANY MODDERS FIX their VIETNAM 😭 If modders know history, the Nationalists can be an alternate timeline where Vietnam retakes South China in the name of Gia Long the monarchy or whatever grey faction, they can collaborate with the Kaiser, and they could be that one country that keeps getting bigger until they’re released from being puppets and work together with the Kaiser
