What people don't know, that the Suzuki Zen can be converted into a proper little enthusiast car by throwing out the 1.0L Petrol engine and swapping in an Suzuki Baleno sourced G16B engine! This is just that but, the Zen in question is no ordinary Zen, it is the super rare, two-door Suzuki Zen Carbon! Best thing about a Suzuki such as this being your first car is the sheer, reliability! I've had her 4 years and she's not troubled me once, no maintenance besides regular oil change/ service. Not a single failed part.
That's where Suzuki stand alone from others. Nowadays, people are running behind unreliable cars over some fancy features and making fun of Suzuki (keeping aside the safety)

B-Zen since this has the Baleno's 1.6 mill. E-Zen would be a Zen with 1.3 from Esteem.

Here in Kerala there is also a well known 1.6 swapped zen with produces about 135 bhp..on cherry red colour..plz check it out ...it's acceleration is insane

This car doesn't need to be swap if you don't have to it is fast enough. I have now a 2003 model which is faster than any car in the uphill. Never such car had came into my life. Zen I love you.

In this engine the owner can add some Honda d series engine parts like head assemble and some small stuff with some tune this will easily do 120 hp and cuz of light weight it can easily compete with build Hondas not k24 on k tuner but surely others

Hey i don't wanna put anyone down here but what about the maintenance part ?? As we all know how zen were kept! So we have to change the suspension, bushes, brake, in worst case the windshield too... So it might seem cheaper on paper but it's a different story when it comes to real world..
What Maruti engines are swappable for a 2017 Maruti Swift ? Its a VDi so I'm interested in a possible petrol engine swap.
If you have the budget go for a k24a1 VTEC, or a Maruti j24b from Kizashi, or low on budget? G16B from Baleno, or the M16a from the SX4 (yes the same engine was used in zc32 swift sport with 135 bhp na)

No brother it cannot be swap . The zen come with a g10 b which is similar to baleno and esteem one ( g13b,g16b) . It’s a very good bolt on swap

Hii all. Personally I don't feel carbon and Steel superior from any other colours. Secondly Buy a zen with different colour and just repaint it and RTO will charge not more than 3-4k for proper validating the colour changing on Rc book. Mine is White 2001 model. Fully modified and trust me it still gets on with half of ignition and runs like charm. I drive it like I'm driving a car in NFS game and people around go extremely crazy. Yes I have Headers and exhaust sounds very clean and loud from around 2.5k rpm. I had bought this car for listening music SPL and to make people go crazy. Peace and drive safely.
I think the carbon and steel are special because they have 2 doors, not their colours.

Is it OK to buy a old 2007 Esteem or 07 Baleno in today's time ? I really think it would be great beater car for commutes and short drives especially the Baleno . It was much better than Esteem in all aspects . I am afraid of the rusting issues and maintenance cost on a old Baleno 😕 😪 somehow
You can go for the Esteem as it was sold for many years as compared to the Baleno. Also as the body style of the Esteem stayed relatively unchanged (Maruti 1000 - Esteem) spare parts are relatively easy to come by and reasonably priced.

But the thing about Esteem and Baleno is that they are built on the same platform but Baleno being a C segment sedan was more robust well put together, Esteem feels flimsy and very light whereas Baleno was right there with its Japanese rivals at its time plus its got a better ride and handling balance along with highway stability. Quality of materials used is much better and feels durable in Baleno actually. I still see a few Balenos running on the road today also but yes they are rare compared to Esteem obviously but that's because maruti suzuki didn't position it well from the start itself. Hence it didn't sell otherwise its a great car to have. People who own it are really happy even today also.
Anyway let's say I buy an old Esteem or even a Baleno as a beater car for daily commutes and short drives, where can I get good quality spares ? Because it will be hard to find good quality spare parts for such old cars. I know about Boodmo.com and partsbigboss.com which deal in spare parts but don't know how credible they are.
And suppose I buy it and one day the Engine just dies after a few days or few months of ownership? Where could I possibly get a new Engine block for it? That's my real concern 😟 😨 which stops me from investing in this venture.
@@aashutoshbhagat2677 Understand your concern. When buying make sure you have a trustworthy garage/mechanic at hand. As far as am aware G13B/G16B are well built/ robust engines. In regards to spares original MGP spare parts are available from MGP spare part outlets. If you are based in Mumbai/Pune then there are well established spare part shops. Boodmo is 90% reliable but you have to plan ahead to allow for delivery lead times. GoMechanic is also coming up as a good/competitive alternative.

@@CroftVan Sorry to bug you again but I have to ask this ; Can the k12 (swift)or k14(ciaz and 1st gen Ertiga) engines fit inside the engine bay of Esteem ? There wasn't too many electric sensors in it as its from BS4 era. Correct me if I am wrong.
I am asking because maruti suzuki has stopped providing spare parts for old cars like Esteem, omni baleno etc , I heard this few times on team bhp forum and outside too . Hence the doubt.

You guys are doing a good job. One suggestion though, ask the owners of the cars you are featuring to wash their cars at least before the feature. It says a lot about the driver when the car is not just quick but also clean..... Take cues from Bangalore and Kerala Car Enthusiasts.....
We assure you the people who lend us these cars are thorough enthusiasts, but since it was a rainy day, even if you clean the car before the shoot, by the time we reach the shoot location, it gets dirty again.

U can't swap 1.6 but u could go for the k series family like k14

depends upon the space you have
goodies likes power steering and ac takes up space
but still a k12 can go in an alto
problem lies with the tuning
see these newer engines have a lot of sensors and therefore require a lot of tuning
you'd end up spending a lot on an alto and honestly altos drive kinda bad
main reason why these swaps are of old engines because they have few sensors infact many of them have just 1or2
like honda's b15 that thing has a vacuum advanced distributer for timing which screams easy swap
early 2000s honda city had b15 engine made around 100hp
but thats not important
it had a redline of 8000 rpm
that engine and gearbox is an easy swap but still alto is a great car but it drives nothing like a zen
easiest: get yourself an old honda city
