Ultimate: Better story, fights, characters. Original: Better art direction, no comedy-anime-chibi scene bullshit. Was completely immersive. Shit end villain.
I put up with the comedy-anime-chibi scene bullshit. cronnoponno because I'm a fan. Even seen both series in Japanese, (with English subtitles) because I couldn't wait for the English Dub. Although Crispin Freeman & the rest did an awesome job in both series. I especially liked the way the original ended with the NaZi Swastka Microchip, made you want more. Yet there was no more for about 5 years. In between that time made you pick up a Manga... But I get you I do hate those cut scenes with Seras, and that anime chibi bs. To me the only one that worked was the beginning of OVA 5 "The Willis" It worked cause we're not quite sure if it's a dream, or demon (Familiar) of some sort pestering Alucard. Then that scene ends so bad ass we find out it's the "Negotiator" - To bad we never get closure on that character....

I do agree, the original just seem to have a richer art style, the sound choices were on point, each episode had a good plot pacing, every characters story's were revealed, the non canon antagonist was way more interesting. but Ultimate on the other hand had lots of blood and gore, funny chibi moments (if that's your thing) , and maybe more badass fight scenes. but I'm a fan of old school anime and in my opinion, the original is the best. for any other arguments, it's about your own personal taste of this anime and both of these versions are both good and bad.

I'm will always be of the opinion that the original anime was better than ultimate. The atmosphere it produced was amazing and it did far more to make feel far more grounded, stuff like getting to know many of the soldiers before the valentine brothers kill them all for example, or seeing how Sera struggle just to get to her first point of being able to drink blood even from a bag, or how learning Integras backstory was exacuted really elevates the series for me.

I thought that the beginning of this song was just gibberish, but the more I hear the more I think it's korean (or at least have some of hangul in it), because I think I can hear him singing "Saranghae", although it can be just my imagination. Besides, everytime I search for his lyrics I find korean names and titles.
@DustedDom The story is based on, let´s say "comic-books", and the makers of the anime didn´t have the funds to do it properly, so they made up a story (only the first couple of episodes sticks to the comic) and their own ending. The OVA is an attempt to do it right this time and they stick very close to the books.

Yes, I know. :P The anime ended so abruptly because the funding was pulled. I hear that was largely due to the manga author throwing up a fuss about not liking the direction it was going, but I'm not totally certain about that.
