Im not from the psychedelic era, but a great song is a great song, and this is a great song. Status Quo really are a very underated band. Alan Lancasters Bass playing is something else too. R.I.P.
It was actually 1968! I proudly owned the LP (vinyl. Still do!) "Picturesque Pictures of Matchstick Men" in my final year of High School, just before being conscripted into the air force. Great memories of a fantastic band. Thank you so much!
"Technicolor Dreams" I see your face at the dawn of the day, gold as the sun begins to shine I see your face now at the end of the day, purple shadows dancing in your eyes. Technicolour dreams are all I see Technicolour dreams of you and me I see your shadow tripping through a silver glade, tiptoeing over crimson sand Luring me onwards into a sea of jade, leading me gently by the hand If I could escape through the windows of my mind I would fly to your magic mountain land There we would stay 'til the world had passed away With a love only we could understand

This clip well hi lights that Quo consisted of four exceptionally talented musicians each in their own right - especially given how young they were in 1969.

I found myself in love a lot later with the Status Quo 😊I now know quite some time let's say since Caroline and up until the Heavy Traffic Powerful come back❤
Saw them live, Maidstone Corn Exchange, '69. Played this and Spinning Wheel blues, but best was their cover of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. Way, way off the scale. Superb version, far better than the Beatles. Shame the didn't record it.
@@tonydean2541 I can't believe that Alan just died. Yes, I'm glad that John Coglan is still out there getting it done. If and when they ever go in, I hope that he will take part. Yes, Tull is perhaps the most insane HOF omission.
Everyone talking about this album like its extremely different to their later albums. Looking forward to the 'drastic' changes anyway. Hopefully not as drastic as a change that Pink Floyd did but sure...
Can we learn to appreciate old music without shitting on modern music please? Why your first thought while listening to older music would be to belittle today's music is beyond me... Before you comment "no song today could touch this" or "much better than todays crap" you should educate yourself on music first. The 50s,60s,70s,80s had just as many shitty songs as this generation does. Just that radio stations would filter them out. Today's mainstream music may be crap but not ALL modern music is. If you look hard enough you'll find great music from today. There are young people who watch these videos just to enjoy music. I'm sure they don't care about your personal opinions on today's music, in the same way that you didn't care about your parents telling you 40s and 50s music was better than 60s and 70s. My absolute Quo favorite!!
R I P ALAN LANCASTER
Founder member and awesome bass player from Status Quo.
Excellent ! Psychedelic Quo before going into whole lotta boogie business:)

What great bass playing and it sounds great.
this feels like after it rains, and a rainbow comes out
I bought the Golden Hour of Status Quo album in the late 70's and loved their psychodelic era.

Super bass line on this song 👍
All of their early stuff has some incredible bass playing. Alan Lancaster was underrated.

The start of the formation of the greatest band of all time!
Tolle Zeit, tolle Musik. Hippies und flower Power
Anytime you got that old school thick-ass bass lines, I'm like 'Oh Ya!'
No band used the phase effect better. This is SO MUCH FUN!!!!
Now wait a minute here....there was the ending to "Bold As Love" by Jimi Hendrix. Ha ha! But yes, this is one of the great songs with the effect.
MattHatter so weird you say that. That Hendrix song just came up on my shuffle today. Love - the - phase!!!

I don't know why but I prefer this Quo
I think there are good reasons behind it....
I know damn well why. This was Quo, it just didn’t work out at the time
I do because it's the BEST Quo!
Great musicianship and great vocals.
There is a certain clean innocence about the the mid-late 60's.
I love this period of Status Quo.
Schöne Zeit mit dem Beat-Club❤
Great song, never did hear this song here in the states back then, why? Great follow up to Pictures of Matchstick Men.
Rock In Peace Alan & Rick
Thanks for uploading. My 4yr old son is obsessed with Status Quo and loving these early songs at the moment but so hard to find videos of then.
Your son has great taste!
Thats a 4 year old fella with great taste.
Yeah he even calls himself Rick and has his posters up everywhere haha
🤣 Love it bless him ... good on the little man 👍
one of my favourite quo songs
For me, the best song.
Their first album is their best one imo. Paradise flats is my favorite quo song.
their best song ever!! really incredible
Anybody else think Alan Lancaster looks like Roy Wood in this clip?when the Move formed Roy was clean shaven
Stay a little bit longer....
Einer der schönsten Songs von Status quo, genau wie Pictures of Matschtikman

My favorite song in 69 and it still is. Status Quo the second best.
Even as a beat group the Quo rocked
Sunny Cellophane Skies is a killer psych track by them too.
