      Oh, the singer looks angry at being thrown to the lions :)
      A funny detail : Queen Elizabeth used to make jiggsaw puzzles :)

    I love this song as it even sounds fitting to be the last track on that album.

    thanks a lot ! I was reading those tabs playing mostly "open" chords and that was too clean and you show us it with all these exact bar chords, thats the real sound !!

    Thanks for uploading this man, this song is has maybe my favorite lyrics of any Stones song (which is saying a lot) as it shows their acknowledgment that no matter how much they understand normal/working class life they still feel alienated from common folk because of their fame. The amount of material that you care to cover is inspiring and has kept me from growing complacent as I learn guitar, thanks for the inspiration man.

    I know you've been gone for almost a year now. Hope you're doing well. But thankfully your presence on TH-cam remains. Watched this before. Excellent straightforward lesson. I really do appreciate that you don't go on and on about rhythm and strumming. Better to feel an internalize the rhythm. Then this up and down mechanical approach. But the last few days I've been on an opening e kick. Starting with hearing the John Lennon song. John Sinclair. Figured it was a open e tuning. So I gave it a try. Thanks again for all your wonderful lessons

    Cool. I hear a capo in there but not sure where (don’t have a guitar handy). Maybe they are tuned down to D when capo on 2? That B note on the low E has a definite capo buzz.

    Okay James (and everyone else...). Huge fan but this is so coincidental had to share. We're at a random B&B in Fennville, MI and the owner tells us there's a nice restaurant down the road. We go down and in the middle of dinner my phone alerts me you just uploaded a new video (this one) . The name of the restaurant is The Salt of The Earth! Lol bazaar or what?

    James please explain the chords with tab I get that it's in open e. I can follow what you're doing. I think you should be jamming with the stones 😊

    I don’t know how this great lesson got past me. This, prodigal son, and can’t always get what you want are in open E. I get nervous tuning to open E because it seems like it’s hard on my strings and guitar. What do you think?

    • @jamesjames9275
      @jamesjames9275  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don’t think I’d keep an acoustic guitar permanently tuned to open E. But for a little while, it shouldn’t cause a problem.

    • @klowndogrock
      @klowndogrock 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No doubt brother! Busted a brand fucking new e last night tuning up for prodigal son. 🙄

    I wonder what gave Keith the idea to play those bar chords that way?

  • @strummercash5601
    @strummercash5601 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Please break down the intro. as well! Thank you for the rest of the lesson. I want this song played at my funeral and at least now I can sing it for myself while mostly fully alive in 2021, haha. Peace.

    • @jamesjames9275
      @jamesjames9275  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      But I did break down the intro. I don’t know how to explain it any better.

    • @strummercash5601
      @strummercash5601 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think I’ve got it, thanks! I admit, it takes me a while to digest lesson videos. I just need to be a bit patient with myself. Really enjoying your content. I favor any Stones song with Keith on vocals, so Got the Silver (watched your lesson!) and Locked Away (I know, it’s Keith solo…) are my next endeavors. Thanks again! Really appreciate you sharing your knowledge and skills.

    • @strummercash5601
      @strummercash5601 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup! It’s right there and we’ll explained. I think I got thrown off when you said “let’s look at the chords. They’re pretty simple”
      I just spaced what came directly after, sorry!

  • @klowndogrock
    @klowndogrock 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can I tune my low e string to something lower that will suffice? Busted my 2nd (and last) low e string and I cussed like Keef would've a bad dope deal!

    • @jamesjames9275
      @jamesjames9275  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      For open E, you don't change the low E string, it stays at E.

    • @billyjoejones3596
      @billyjoejones3596 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tune to an open D then capo at the second fret. Tuning to open E on my acoustic feels like my neck is going to snap.

    What tuning is this?
