I got to thinking that the Happy Planner I just received would be perfect because I could add to it and subtract from it and move things around, thanks to the disc-bound system. So I came up with my own hybrid of everything and that's what you'll see here in my video!

I like how you "ACTUALLY" PLAN and not just decorate your planner.. I love to write and doodle and I love the decorations and all that but it's really wasting supplies and the point to only decorate the planner so much there is no room for writing.. love yours. I'm subscribing bc you are fluent in all aspects and extremely organized like I am.. I can relate to everything you say and it's really pretty too.. Thank you
Love the journal :) I may steal some of your tips and ideas! I use a standard diary at the moment and I have a separate journal for goals and to-do lists etc, but it would be great to have them all in the one book! I have a separate medical journal though and I think I'll keep that one. I started that one when I was having issues last year with my cycle. It was a great place to write questions for my doctor, tests I had, test results etc. Then it was great with my surgery to keep track of my recovery and post surgery instructions. As it was a blank journal from Kikki K, it then morphed into my TTC journal and eventually my pregnancy journal. At the moment I keep track of my measurements as my pregnancy progresses, symptoms I notice etc so I can tell my OB instead of trying to remember!
I am like you and LOVE colour! There is just something so lovely about opening your journal or planner and seeing bright happy colours. Keep the planner ideas and the minimalist living/storage ideas coming.

I know I'm late but TH-cam just recommended this for me. I love how you said you like when it's messy and full because i feel like same way. I see all the Instagram posts with perfectly neat planners and it just feels fake. Mine is a perfect combination of usefulness, color and a jumble of stickers, washi and gel pens and i love it. Happy planners and bullet journaling are the best of both worlds. Thanks for the video i love seeing other people's set up.
it was wonderful to see and hear all about your Happy Planner!!! Keeping a planner like that is not something I'm interested in but it was fun to watch. The only time in my life I had a planner was when I had my quilting business and needed to keep track of my customers and their quilts. Come to think of it, when the kids were little, I always kept a calendar hanging on the wall the had all their milestones, activities, play dates, field trips noted on them, so when I eventually made their scrapbooks I would know the dates. Well, 13 years later I never made their scrapbooks bit I still have all the calendars...so I guess they were kind of like happy planners on a small scale :)

I've been watching planner videos and was kinda overwhelmed with accessories until I saw this video! I love how you personalized it! Love the goals and I think the best advise is not to write too far ahead. This is a great balance of decorating and goals/purpose. LOVE how you incorporate bullet journaling. Can't wait to start setting everything up now!

Great advice! I picked up my 1st Happy Planner to replace my Franklin Covey and I went from excited to overwhelmed real quick with all the add-ins and accessories available. I loved this video!!! I was absolutely bewildered and despondent when faced with my first pages in my Happy Planner, having absolutely no clue how to deal with the vertical layout...what to do with those 3 boxes each day?!? How could I use them as an actual planner, instead of just for mainly decorating pages? Then I found this video, and your genius ideas on how to use those "three little boxes"! Hooray!!! I paused your video at 1:30am and ran to Michael's after church, on my way home, to watch the rest of your video. The planners were buy one get one 50% off. So I got the hole puncher for 1/2 price and used my 40% on washi!!! Yay. TYVM I've been stuck in a bujo rut of decorating AND THEN the month is over and I got nothing written because I didn't finish the decor.. started over the next month and Ive been doing that for months. thank you for telling me about a better idea and they are so pretty. I got the large one, watercolor.. picked up some water color pencils.. My husband was there and smiled and said, "just get it" as I was trying to budget it. How fun that was too! Thank you for taking the time to show your layout. I have been looking for a name for what my planner is and you hit the nail on the head, it's a "life planner". Super versatile and I love how I can make it my own and never get bored because I can change it to how I feel. Great ideas, I love the habit tracker. I need to incorporate that into my planner. Loved this video. I really liked the idea of setting small goals to help you get to your big goals. I always set my big goals (lose fifty lbs) and when I don't achieve the goal in a week or two, I become discouraged. I will be using a few of your ideas to set up my planner. Thanks!

Great video! I just bought the happy planner and it will be a combination of bullet journaling and decorative, but not the sticker sneezes on paper that I've been seeing. I will use mine as a habit tracker, I have some health issues, so keeping track of my blood sugars, and medicines, events, birthdays, kid's activities, home planning, budgeting... you name it, It truly will be a ME book, I liked when you said that.

I loved this video so much!! I have a Happy Planner but also wanted to bullet journal because I just loved the idea of it and I could not find a video that actually combined the 2 of them (most videos are just using a planner and a separate journal and not really combining them). I bought my planner last year before school started and I'm on my 2nd year with that one because I didn't want to waste those last 6 months in it. So I bought the 6 month expansion pack ($10) to get me through this upcoming spring semester. As for the whole planning ahead I'm just like you with not wanting to make anything permanent in upcoming weeks. Since I'm in college I have a syllabus for each class with due dates so I use a big post it to write each weeks assignments (and any events I know of) and put a post it in each week then when I get to that week I write them in the actual planner. You gave me so many ideas for how to combine the planner with the bullet journal and I can't wait for my next Hobby Lobby trip to get all the stuff I need!

Great video. I have several planners for assorted purposes. They do come out with 12 month ones in September/October. So, you don't end up wasting 6 months every time.
I use the passion planner but think I will try the Happy Planner for the next year. I am committed to using the one I started with. PS I am OBSESSED with washi tape!!!!

I LOVE the disc systems!! Other brands out there (as if MORE sources are needed!) are Circa by Levenger, Rollabind, and as you mentioned the Arc series at Staples. I have my sort-of Bullet Journal in a hard bound journal for now, trying to stick with it rather than take time to switch it to a disc system book. For me it is more fun to set up the book than to actually use it. I need to focus on the using part!! You're doing a great job at that; thanks for the inspiration!!

After years of Erin Condren $$, I moved to Happy Planner but got bored with it, mostly the layout. I saw on Nicole's Journal website bullet Journaling in HP and thought what a great idea. I have been using a Moleskin. You have verified with this video that it is a perfect conbination. Your own style in disk system. Thank you for this video.

Hi! Thanks for this video. I found the ARC supplies at Staples right after I purchased my Happy Planner. I made a scripture journal out of a big ARC notebook. The longer I worked in the big notebook, the more I favored it over my Happy Planner. It turns out I'm more of a horizontal/journal girl. But...this made me sad for my cute little planner. I've been trying different things with it coz I didn't want to give up on it. Long story to say your video has shown me the solution! I will make the Happy Planner my health/wellness/habit tracker sort of thing, as you have done. P.S. I'm not a knitter etc. girl, but I recognized you from your Spot The Scotts channel. There is definitely a full time RV set-up in my future.
Just FYI, Happy Planner has a horizontal version now. :)

Interesting. I can't get into full-blown bullet journaling, and I don't think I'd have much use for that Level thing you were doing but I enjoyed seeing what you've done here. I just bought a BIG Happy Planner at Michael's.com. My intention is to use it as a "life workbook" instead of a planner. For my planner, I'm a Moleskine 18-Month Planner gal. Though I've tried many other systems, I always come back to Moleskine. Having said that, when Erin Condren launched the new 2018 Life Planners a few months ago, I couldn't help myself and bought one. I had really wanted to give the Passion Planner a good go for next year, but I guess maybe we'll see what 2019 brings. ;) I used an Erin Condren LP in 2012 and it was ok and I used it, but I preferred my Moleskine. I have an old Rollabind punch (same disc concept....way before Arc and Happy Planner) and some small discs somewhere. Hopefully, everything's somewhere in the garage to add pages to the HP for next year. Enjoyed your video.
Thanks so much for such an in-depth look at your HP! So I've noticed I'm having trouble fitting everything into one planner. I bought the Home Planner extension pack and Fitness pack but am now finding it's a little bulky and hard to manage.
Do you recommend more than one planner for your home/family and personal lives? I think this is what I may have to do...😳

+Cynthia Kisik I think it's all about preference. If multiple planners works better for you, go for it! For me, I combined them, but then took all the extra months out so I only have 3 months of both planners in there so it's still a very reasonable size.
I don't know if someone already commented. MAMBI puts out a 6 month package to buffer the 6 month offset. But I'm a DIY girl too :)

I never write things in before that week begins I just fill the week with post its as the events come up and then when I plan that week and can put things where ever. :D I am buying all the rest of my stuff soon and then i hope to do a video on mine in January!
I do that for like the following week/month, stuff that's close... but I only keep about 3 months in my planner at a time since the space is shared with notebook/bullet journal stuff. So the forward planning pages are a must for me!

I enjoy your video I want to start mine I can't decide if I want to use my recollections planner or get a Happy Planner, I cross stitch and want to get into punch needle I also weave and cochet wanted to use it as a tracker for craft supplies and every day life. Have to decide witch one I want to go with.
I love this video! it's everything I'm going to do when my planner is full! I have a wire bound planner I just bought when I found the bujo & when I found out everyone is doing deco planning! it's very similar to the happy planner or the Erin condern planners except the wire bound part! it's 18 months also & not much room to add to it at all. I'm going to see if I can get my $25 worth out of it before I Crack & buy a happy planner! 😆🙄📖📒 but I do have a separate competition notebook right now I use for my bujo. I'm so ready for the happy planner bujo merge though! lol!😁😋🤔🤓🖒✍👀💌❣📖💡📒📅

Found the compact punch today at Staples. Cost was $14.99 but I had a 30% off Arc planner notebooks and accessories so ended up costing only $10.50. The Arc line of products which Staples carries are compatible with The Happy Planner. (Big and Classic) and the prices are a lot less. Thanks for the great video. Rose
+rosalie Thompson isn't that the best! I love that punch, takes up less space, and it is so much cheaper than the larger punch by either brand. Yes, I use quite a few of the Arc products.

+doremifasowhat hahha! Well old me could never do it but after living in an RV for a year, I have gotten pretty good with rules like tense and keeping my supplies for things limited. It's tough though!
i liked all your great ideas. One question: When you take out pages or put in new pages, don't the calender or days of the week numbers get all messed up?
This is why when I was using two months at once, I did one entire set of that month plus the second entire set, as opposed to trying to do one week at a time. That way it didn't get all mixed up :) I hope that makes sense. :)
