I have taught everything from toddlers thru tenth graders and I was a finearts and Spanish teacher. I'm currently retired and they brought back every retired teacher's and we all are intervention specialist in the district I have taught in.
I am going into my 9th year teaching, which I can hardly believe! I have been at the same school, but 3 grade levels: 2,3,4. Next year I will be adding a new experience: FIRST GRADE. I honestly never thought I'd teach that young, but for now I am starting to think I am meant for lower primary. You are going to really love 3rd grade. Yes, there is the pressure of the state retention and testing, but those kids.... they are so independent and yet still so sweet. It was nice to hear your story, and I'm excited to follow along! 😎
I NEVER thought I’d go younger than third and I loveddddd second so much!!! You’re gonna love first! I teach first for summer school. I think phonics instruction is the most fun thing to teacher ever and watching them blossom and learn how to read is awesome!
I’m starting my first year teaching and I’m teaching 2nd grade at the school I interned at (1st grade) I am so excited to have some of my kiddos in my class this year 🥳🥳
I taught third this year and it wasn't bad at all! I wish we had that retention rule in NC we don't have it and kids keep getting pushed along who can't read!
Congratulations 🎉 it’s exciting that you have the possibility to loop with your class, I teach first and could have taught second next year but I knew I wouldn’t get any of my kiddos so I stuck with first grade!!
I don’t think I’m going to get any or not most 😢 but I know most of the 2nd grade class going up and theyre great kids too! So it’ll be ok and it’s worth it for other reasons too!
I’m a first year third grade teacher, and I just subscribed. I’m so excited to follow along with you! You’re so heartwarming and relaxing to watch 🤍
Congratulations

Going into my 4th year of teaching and I’ll be teaching 3rd grade social studies! The first 3 years I did 1st grade. Kind of nervous but also excited.
I have looped several times before I have retired. And there are superior benefits to looping.
I wouldn't feel guilty. Loop with them!

That’s AWESOME!! And an amazing way to start your first year. Hopefully you get to spend some years in second because it’s the best!!!

I understand that but from my experience the retentions don’t fix the problem either😪😅

What’s your curriculum?
We use wonders - absolutely NOT my favorite lol. And for math we use stem scopes which is also not my favorite !! Hahaha
What state are you in?
