I remember this episode as if it were yesterday. The fact that it was so unexpected, and sudden, was a shock to viewers of the series, and dashed all hopes of Ally and Billy eventually getting together, and finally marrying. There wasn't a dry eye in the television audience that evening, and I'm not ashamed to say that this grown man shed a tear as well. What a performance Calista Flockhart did as she watched helplessly as Billy collapsed, and died in her arms. What a tragic scene that was, and what a brilliant actress she is.
Calista the actress watched as Gil the actor left. Ally watched helplessly as Billy died in her arms. This made me hate the words true love, but as much as I had myself in turmoil my grandparents had true love and I couldn't deny that. A lot of people are saying this as well so don't get me wrong, but I see similarities of Ally and Billy's relationship in my own with my husband. He's my best friend and even now when im in constant pain, we still dance around the room every night in each other's arms. Just us in our own little world. Incredible actor Gil is ... love him ❤❤
I'm a new writer, and I can only hope to write something that simultaneously is beautiful yet heartbreaking. Ally McBeal gets remembered for the absurd funny moments. But hands down this was the most memorable scene of the series. And I know people will say RDJ injected and maybe could've saved the show. And even thou season 3 had been really bad up until that point, this was the moment the show we truly loved ended.
I thought Billy was married to Georgia & they had a child? Was he getting Ally & Georgia confused? Loved his speech I know Ally & Billy had history. 😢🤔
@@corrielundstrom5673 Billy and Georgia did not have a child. Billy IMHO was saying goodbye and in that moment he told Ally his true feelings. He had always loved her.
i hate to break the vibe, but honestly...if that's the love of my life lying on the floor unconscious and not breathing, i'm doing CPR until i need it myself. ok, calista flockhart's performance was moving and drama, but could she have saved billy if she'd done some proper first aid?! we'll never know.
Billy died from an inoperable brain tumor that was basically a ticking time bomb in his head. Ally doing CPR was part of her panic response, and no amount of it was going to save him. Best case he would have lingered on life support until someone agreed to pull the plug.
Man was Calista Flockhart tremendous in this scene. She absolutely too the emotional impact to another level.
Years after watching the first time it still breaks my heart. She was so right for this part and series.

What ever happened to the Loss of Billy-Part 2?
It was blocked by Fox copyright it's strange some clips are blocked and others not.
By the way I always enjoy reading your comments, thanks
Sad, but Billy had a terminal condition, It was quick and peaceful.
This is soooooooooo sad
This scene was written and performed so well by both. Just another reason I loved the series.
