  • McNaughton-McKay's Steven Chaffee and Donny Bartlette instruct you on how to integrate a Zebra Laser Printer to your Allen Bradley Logix Controller via EtherNet/IP. This video utilizes Studio 5000 to set up the communication between Zebra Laser Printer and the Logix controller. After setup, the controller will command the printing of pre-formatted labels from the controller’s tag database.

    Thanks for the walk-through. On the ZE500 printer, Network Connect is not available on the print server. Any idea or references on how to communicate to this printer over Ethernet? Thanks in advance!

    • @mcnaughtonmckay
      @mcnaughtonmckay  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, The ZE500 Print Engine communicates to a print server via TCP/IP. Rockwell Automation PLCs require open socket communications to talk to TCP/IP devices. For more information on open socket communications with Rockwell Automation PLCs please refer to the programming reference guide for your controller, the Rockwell Automation Knowledgebase, or contact your local Rockwell Automation distributor for personalized support.

    Hi, I have seen the video, I have a ZD620D printer AND a CompactLogix L30ER PLC,
    Is it possible to connect this printer to this PLC through EthernetIP, or do I need some extra component or firmware?
    And I tried to see my printer in the RSLinx to download the EDS, but I don't get this communication, you know why this happens?

    • @mcnaughtonmckay

      Hi Ricardo, There is a special firmware kit that allows for any ZD or ZT series printer running Link OS to communicate to a Rockwell Automation PLC. You can find a distributor local to you for this solution through Zebra's Network Connect Inquiry page. www.zebra.com/us/en/products/software/barcode-printers/link-os/network-connect-printer-software.html If you have further questions or concerns, please reach out to your local Rockwell Automation distributor.

    I have a question. How many Zebra printers can be connected to a controller? We have a situation that requires 5 different printers at a truck loading station and was wondering if this would be possible or if it is limited to one printer per controller.

    • @mcnaughtonmckay
      @mcnaughtonmckay  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Brent, Yes, you can have multiple printers on one PLC. The PLC treats each printer as an IO device. However, there are limits to how many IO devices can be connected to each controller. We recommend consulting your processor’s owner manual to determine how many IO devices are allowed. Please reach out to your local distributor for personalized support.

    Hello We are using ZT410 printer tries to connect with compactlogix 1769-L32E PLC.
    What firmware do we need?

    • @mcnaughtonmckay
      @mcnaughtonmckay  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Luis, Zebra printers use a paid special firmware in order to communicate with Allen Bradley controllers. In regards to your current CompactLogix controller, the L32E’s maximum firmware version goes up to v20. Zebra printers are only compatible with controllers at firmware version 24 and on. We recommend that you reach out to your local Rockwell Automation distributor to discuss upgrading to a new controller. locator.rockwellautomation.com/

    Hello Sir,
    How i connect GT800 to Delta SVP 14SS2 PLC?
    Thanks

    • @mcnaughtonmckay
      @mcnaughtonmckay  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Amit, I’m afraid that printer is not compatible. It is being replaced with the ZD620 which is compatible with a firmware upgrade (purchased separately). Please contact your local Zebra partner for assistance, or reach out to your local Rockwell Automation distributor.

    We can't find eds file for it

    • @mcnaughtonmckay
      @mcnaughtonmckay  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello, EDS files are supplied by the manufacturer of the printer. Please reach out to Novexx Solutions about this inquiry. If they do not provide an EDS file, the data must be processed and translated manually by the user. We hope this is helpful.
