When I duplicate the 2 layers and move the keyframes a little further into the timeline, my 4th page disappears as soon as the keyframes of page 1 and 2 end. How do I fix this?
Hello! This tutorial was really helpful to me! But I didn’t quite understand how to use the camera system to make the magazine look "placed." Do you think you might create a tutorial on this topic? Thank you!!
A little late to the party, and you may have already discovered this, but to fix the “disappearing page” issue, I adjusted the background’s anchor point to -1 in the z axis. Great tutorial!
Hi there! Thanks for sharing your solution! Adjusting the background’s anchor point to -1 on the Z-axis is a great way to fix the “disappearing page” issue. I appreciate you adding this detail-it’s always helpful to hear different approaches. Glad you enjoyed the tutorial!
This Video is very helpful. Do we find a second one, where you explain the shades and movement as shown in the end of this video?? That would be amazing :)
Thanks for the feedback! To add a camera and light in After Effects, make sure your layers are set to 3D. Then, go to Layer > New > Camera to add a camera, and Layer > New > Light to add a light. I didn’t cover these details in this tutorial, but it’s a great idea for future content. Stay tuned, and I’ll consider doing a detailed guide on that!
When I shift the frame by one pixel as you do at 6:11 the offset becomes clearly visible once the page goes flat on mine, and I'm able to see the cover page underneath. However, yours still seems to join perfectly in the middle despite changing this
Thanks for your interest! I don’t have a continuation specifically for adding cameras and lights at the moment, but it’s a great idea. I’ll consider covering it in a future tutorial. Stay tuned!
Unfortunately not as the Classic 3D renderer is limited to working with flat, 2D layers in 3D space-so while you can rotate, scale, and position layers in 3D, you can't deform or bend them. However, you could use the Page Turn effect to create a similar (yet 2D) version of the bend. This would give you some of the visual dynamics without needing to switch to Cinema 4D.
i have a problem ! , when i duplicate the page composition like you did then i change the page content which it is a solid layer , the other compositons also follow that change ! , you did not , so shall i use cmpusition dublicator script to solve that ? note that the script didn't copy the key frames !!
Great suggestion! Using the Page Turn effect with front and back pages can indeed be a time-saver. However, the tutorial focuses on a 3D approach where camera angles and lighting/shadows come into play for a more dynamic result. Glad you found the tutorial useful!
At 4:13 in your video you somehow select something that allows you to then show a line chart - I have tried for HOURS and cannot duplicate this. Could you please explain how you get that nice bell curve line chart? I get something very different. THANKS
It's hard to understand or explain without seeing what yours looks like but I'll do my best to explain a few possible issues or fixes below. I started by selecting my keyframes (which must be set to ease, by right-clicking and selecting 'keyframe assistant' > 'easy ease') and then clicking the 'Graph Editor' button at the top of my timeline, which you can see me do in the video. However if you're inside the Graph Editor but it looks different than mine (you might be seeing a graph that looks more like an 's' rather than a bell curve) It might be because you have your graph set to 'Value' rather than 'Speed'. At the bottom of the timeline there are some icons/buttons. Firstly, click on the 'eye' icon and make sure 'Show Selected Properties' is ticked. Then, click on the icon to the right of that one, which looks like a small screen with some lines on, and select ' Edit Speed Graph' I might have misunderstood your issue, but hopefully one of the above helps!
If you use pre-comps for your pages like I did in the tutorial, just create or drag your content into those pre-comps. This will ensure your content appears on the corresponding pages in your main composition. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!
As the pages are created using 3D layers, all you need to do is add a Camera to your scene (Layer > New > Camera) and then adjust the Position & Orientation until you're happy. I hope this helps!
I created separate precomps for each page to keep things organized and flexible. This way, you can easily make changes to individual pages without affecting the others.
Hi there! Sorry to hear that Cinema 4D caused your Mac to crash, but it can be a bit heavy at times! Here are a few things you can try to help prevent future crashes: 1. Update Software: Make sure both After Effects and any Cinema 4D components are fully up to date. Sometimes crashes can happen because of bugs that have been fixed in newer versions. 2. Check System Requirements: Ensure your Mac meets the recommended system requirements for using Cinema 4D within After Effects. If your system is struggling with memory or processing power, it could cause crashes. 3. Clear Cache: Try clearing your After Effects cache to free up resources. You can do this by going to Edit > Purge > All Memory & Disk Cache. 4. Optimize Settings: Lowering your composition’s resolution or turning off unnecessary layers and effects while working can reduce the strain on your system, potentially avoiding crashes. 5. Check GPU Drivers: If you're using an external GPU or relying heavily on your GPU for rendering, make sure the drivers are up to date. On a Mac, these usually come with system updates, so check for the latest macOS updates. Hopefully, one of these tips helps prevent crashes in the future!
I understand your concerns and appreciate your feedback. I have a full-time job that takes up most of my time and energy, and this channel is a way for me to help others and share my passion. The best flip page 3D I found is this video. Thanks again.
Thanks! Really appreciate this! 🙌
adjust the Z position to -1 when your layer dissapears after the turn ( at 7:35 ). -1 for top layer -2 for back page
Damn, this channel is a gold mine. alot of great knowledge and techniques

heyy i just want to say Thankyou soo muchh!!! this tutorial saved my ass at work bigtime 😭💖. Thankyou again
what do you do?
Thank you for your great tutorial! Really appreciate your time and patience to teach. I will be using this for a short video animation! U R Z Best!!🤩🤩
Glad it was useful! Good luck with your animation 👍

Yes that will be really helpful.
Agreed. Followed along well until there.
The most easiest to follow tutorial ever . . .
perfect work👍
Great tutorial, thank you!
Great tutorial, just a question on how to do the camera and shadow effect that you did at the end of the video?
Thanks for the feedback! To add a camera and light in After Effects, make sure your layers are set to 3D. Then, go to Layer > New > Camera to add a camera, and Layer > New > Light to add a light.

Amazing! Thank you.
I am probably not too sure but i think its because the paper clips behind the composition background since you changed its position by 1 frame.

do you have a continuation of this tutorial with adding camera and shadows
Thanks for your interest! I don’t have a continuation specifically for adding cameras and lights at the moment, but it’s a great idea. I’ll consider covering it in a future tutorial. Stay tuned!
I don't have cinema 4D, can it be done in classic 3D?
Unfortunately not as the Classic 3D renderer is limited to working with flat, 2D layers in 3D space-so while you can rotate, scale, and position layers in 3D, you can't deform or bend them.

can we might get the file for download?

Very nice video
super
Use Page turn effect and select front as Page 1 and backside as a page 2. Voila, time saved.
But still good tut

Cool.
adjusting 1 pixel does not work. the page is still the same. can smbd help?
Please I need ur help, my page won't display after I dropped it on the main Comp

@@MotionCaddy That actually makes perfect sense to me and indeed I was able to complete my various "book promotion" vids. THANK YOU AGAIN!!!
Why the higher resolutions in the comp?
how do you put your actual content on the pages ?
If you use pre-comps for your pages like I did in the tutorial, just create or drag your content into those pre-comps. This will ensure your content appears on the corresponding pages in your main composition. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!
great thx
Glad it helped!
im getting an error when i try switching the render to c4d
What's the error you're getting?
how can change the angle of the book like you did at the end

@@MotionCaddy How about lighting and shadow? That is what I want to watch in this video.
✨
What app is this? Adobe?
Adobe After Effects
lol doing this with images in 4k w/ motion blur on causes my AE to crash. And I'm running a 4090 lol
Haha, I get it! 4K and motion blur can really push After Effects to its limits!
@@MotionCaddy lol yet houdini runs fine :P
WHY CREATING DIFFERENT COMPOSITION FOR DIFFERENT PAGE?? WHY NOT ALL ELEMENTS IN ONE PAGE?
I created separate precomps for each page to keep things organized and flexible. This way, you can easily make changes to individual pages without affecting the others.
