    thanks for the video. Inspirational, for sure. I have had MS, another neurological disease, since 1994 (diagnosed 1st year of law school having numbness in feet and legs like you) and function on a scooter and in wheelchair. I can stand briefly to make transfers but am inspired by stories like yours to know that I can surely function even if my legs become totally compromised. I still work 50+ hours per week so, like you, I make no excuses for enjoying life!

    • @JazzyStrong
      @JazzyStrong  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes! You can absolutely do it. With MS, I know fatigue can be a large component to the illness. Outside of that, just work with what you have and do what you can. :)

    I feel your pain about being accused of drug seeking. I have been blown off & treated like a nut case. After that, I won't go to the doctors or hospitals unless there is no choice.
    I am now wheelchair bound, feel awful most of the time & I have constant pain. There isn't much of a life for me any longer.
    I wish I had your drive & strength.

    Happy for your attitude. When i became a t10 complete in 2000, i was to busy to think much about anything. After i retired 6 years later, i started to think about things. But i think i came up with an it is what it is and just moved on. But i will hate and despise the doc that released you with tylenol. His lic shoulld be pulled. No doc should be that complacent nor judgemental.

    You might like this story of my life:
    In the year 2000 I got on the internet for the first time. Soon I found a chatbox, which was very popular before FB came along. In a chatbox you can't see nor hear the other people; you only see what they type.
    And there was a woman... Purely because of what she typed I fell madly in love with her. Then one day she said she was in a wheelchair. Well, that didn't change anything. I fell in love with her personality and that was still the same. We met, we decided to share our lives... and I even emigrated in order to be with her.
    For 19 years we were happy and then she died. I will never forget this wonderful woman!

    You speak well and I Love your independence! Just happened across your video and I really like your personality. I’m very sorry this happened to you there really isn’t a good reason for someone so young to be treated so badly and then be paralyzed. I guess things just happen it must have been frightening. This video might help someone having the same symptoms. I’m happy you can use your hands I’ve seen worse situations. But life must be really tough! And Wow, what an accomplishment using your wheelchair on a skills course! I think being tough and not quitting school until you had to made you who you are. Hang in there on tough days talk to us your listeners we are here.

    I like how your "morning routine" clips show all of the random extra work involved in life with paralysis - like you can't reach your power cord for your laptop, so you have to transfer to a bed, scoot to the wall, pull it out, etc.

    You are so bright and articulate. It will be nice to follow you through the years and continue to get to know you. I am intrigued to see how you will use your college degree once you feel ready to complete your last credits. I hope you are close to being declared cancer free.
    It was sad to read about your ill-treatment at the one hospital. Unfortunately I read about this often. Some people chose the wrong careers and prove a hazard to others health. But ... so glad you persisted and did obtain the help you needed.
    I am looking forward to your next video.

    I started experiencing mobility issues at 18 during my second semester of college. I became a full-time wheelchair user at 19 during my sophomore year. I can relate to the struggles of an inaccessible campus. My campus has a lot of steep hills, and it’s in a historic city, so several of the campus buildings are exempt from parts of the ADA. All of the classroom buildings are at least minimally “accessible.” I can get inside, but I often have to go in the most inconvenient door, or only use 1 of the bathrooms, or someone has to meet me before class to turn on the wheelchair lift, or I can only reach 2 out of 30+ desks, etc. Some of the administrative buildings aren’t accessible. Human resources, payroll, women’s center, cultural center, and LGBT+ center are in old 2 story houses without elevators. If I need to speak to someone whose office is upstairs, I have to go in downstairs and get someone to bring someone down. It’s annoying.

    I broke my back and went through the same. They asked 10 plus times daily if I was an IV drug user. Never used drugs. I am not paralyzed, but my neurosurgeon caught it. I had a T5-10 posterior fusion and a T6-8 anterior fusion. I got infection while waiting for surgery that was in my spine and came out my ankle joint. So ankle surgery as well to save my leg and life. I live in a lot of discomfort and pain, but I still try to be as active as possible.

I know that it is maybe a strange request but it would be interesting if you could do a video with something like a 'sansation test' hahaha..There is a mig misconeption about this part of paraysis.. It’s not an actual spiked collar.. it’s called a pinch collar and it doesn’t actually hurt the dog. I puppy started for CCI and they are used for training and attention. That is a working dog. Be smart people, she’s not harming her service dog.

    • @JazzyStrong
      @JazzyStrong  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, and as a recipient of a service dog through CCI, I had to agree to use the collar in order to obtain my service dog. They are not painful although they do look it. I actually wore one to prove it to someone that they do not hurt, but only squeeze. I too was skeptical at first, but soon learned that they are not harmful if used properly.

    I'm very sorry. Could be a malpractice suit somewhere in there. Just because a person is 18 years of age doesn't mean there's not an serious underlying problem occurring. If the Docs were that concerned about drug use- just needed to perform a simple lab test there on the spot ( I worked in a laboratory). Would've been ruled out immediately... and quite possibly could've addressed the serious medical issue before it proliferated or worsened. Once again, I'm sorry. You sound like your from Central to western Pennsylvania or even southern Ohio. The manner in which you pronounce the word "cold" is audibly simulant of that area. It's cute though. Please be well Jazzy.
