fun fact the stone chat actually gets its name because it sound like two stones being hit together, hence stone chat, lovely video by the way always a relaxing watch
After a quiet is coming alive again, Crossbills, Nuthatch, flocks of Golcrests, Green Woodpeckers and at the top near the car park Ravens are displaying, tumbling and rolling, and yesterday (20/9) the first signs of the Fallow deer rut, 2x three or four year olds hammering away at each other and several of the big lads roaring and scent tasting (and I even managed to get a few good shots of the action). Another top video and some great shots of a great area.
There are a few great spots to shoot the rut, usually 20-30 bucks and about 200 does in a natural amphitheatre, the action really (usually) starts about 10th October, all day action
That wooded area looks is a popular spot for us landscape togs, often called the Dancers. Love it around there. And they are oaks, with a mix of silver birch
I love that place. My aunt and uncle lived in Heather Rd. So when my parents used to visit . Me and my cousin used to explore those woods. a lot has changed since then.
@@damianjohnwildlife I suppose it could be handy to show the difference ,I don't shoot in RAW as I am still learning the basics , I own a Canon 90D and a Sigma 150-600c and I can get quite good results on a sunny day ,not so good when its dull !
Hi Damian, at 11:15 there is a broken tree on the left, try returning to the area in mid-October to hear if there are any tawny owl calls. with us they had made a nest in a similar trunk. we heard them in October, and at the beginning of April we had 3 pullets 🥰
Another good video mate, loving the content, gonna take me a bit of time to go through them all, i am going to join lady walk as its only 15 mins from me, Middleton lakes is my regular. 👍👍
I always love a good woodpecker. The Great Spotted Woodpecker you saw was beautiful!
Same here! Amazing little creatures 😄

That's fantastic news, looks like I'll have to get back up there soon, I'd love to see the deer rutting.
Cheers for the positive comment! 😄

It's an awesome location! Can be a bit hard to find anything at times due to how vast it is but always a good bit of fun
Nice video and thanks for sharing your camera settings ,always helpful for a novice like me !
Thank you! Glad to hear it's of use, out of curiosity do you think it would be useful to show the RAW files opposed to just the edited files?
