I didn't even know people had a bad outlook on them. I always liked them. Tamiya for me is one of those companies that gets a pass even if they make a bad car sometimes. Tamiya got so many of us into this hobby, they've built as many dreams as they have rc cars. Maybe this car isn't their best, but even still, it looks awesome and you whipped it around that track pretty well I thought. That's the kind of car I'd buy, assemble, then put on display more than drive. It still has that tamiya charm sitting still at least.

Never ever had something to do with Tamiya or RC from the 80s to 2010.
Got to this brand and since wonder why I also think also that way. Strange. What's with them?

I hear it was over engineered and unnecessarily complicated. Along with that they were expensive and delicate. My friend's dad had one and literally never drove it. That said, at 11 years old, I had never seen another RC as beautiful and coveted and the original avante - it was a masterpiece for tamiya

You have a new sub! Thanks for the awesome running review! 👍It’s refreshing to see an old-school Tamiya legend trying to clear the ramps and corners in the race track. Great insights and useful tips too!

What a fantastic review! Funnily enough, I ran the Nor-Cal hobbies carpet track for the first time this weekend, and it was in that exact same configuration!
The Avante is in my opinion, one of the best looking RC cars ever produced, and I bought one recently. I would LOVE to watch you run this thing on a 13.5t setup! The way you took to the track was mesmerizing.

Same here, I used to race it. The car was a pain to service it, and was taking so much play everywhere. What Tamiya has done on the Egress and the Vanquish were better solution. Less eyes catcher, but working better.

I have an Avante myself and I cannot wait to set that one up 🙄
From back in the day people used to complain about setting these up and that they were just too complicated..
I also have the VQS that is of the same family but I think that would be an easier buggy to race and set up..
It would be cool to see the Tamiya Super modified motor out in that and out on the track

    • @VestedUTuber

I'd love to see you grab something like a Tamiya 4WD TT-02B (~$120) or 2WD DT-03 (~$90) and then doing a series of attempting to get it to perform well on a track (either Dirt or Carpet, Dirt might be more fun though).
I'm not expecting them to be anywhere near as good as a full purpose built modern buggy but it would be cool to see how far you can actually push them.
I know EuroRC and Tamico over in Europe stock quite a lot of hop-ups but RCMart in Hong Kong is the king of stuff like that.

No the Avante is a fine vintage kit! although the rerelease front springs are overly stiff! Over compensating for the slightly soft springs of the original version

  • @skylar1112

    @jerryvolpini7987 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Great looking build and considering the setup, did pretty good. A little tweaking and it will dramatically improve. A brushless would give you the speed you need but really, kinda defeats the purpose of a vintage build. Good job 👍

No, it’s not a bad car at all. Workmen, tools. Indeed, it’s a fantastic looking and performing car, both this one and its slightly older 2011 brother. The original ones were pretty awful, back in the day, because they were far too weak to drive in anything like a spirited fashion. Why this slack-jawed loafer and his tiny channel have spent so much time and effort (not to mention the cost of the kit) on ragging the thing is a mystery for better minds than mine and FAR better kinds than his :) :) I say that from the standpoint of thinking myself an absolute dunce, just to be clear about things.
