Yesterday my neighbour found a coppersmith barbet (I guess its a baby, unable to fly) on the road. Now we are taking care of that little guest until it learn to explore the sky 💗
Bhai I live near a railway quarters area which has a lot of Forrest cover. I constantly hear this birds calling sound there. I originally thought it was some railway track crossing alerting beep/sounds. One day while sitting on temple bench, one green bird came out of a tree hole and started making the calling sounds and then only I understood that it was not a railway device sound.
I'm an animal rescuer in the Philippines. I have a Coppersmith Barbet that was struck by a vehicle and left by the road. I've rescued the bird and it seems to be doing fine now. I would need help on the specifics for care and feeding. Could you please reply here asap to let me know the best way to take care of this bird?
Hello... That's great you rescued the bird. You can take it to a nearby veterinary clinic. They will give you proper tips for the care of the bird. They are fruit eating birds, you can give it fruit juice using a syringe or crushed fruits. But the thing is we humans can't take care of wild animals or birds as we don't know their need as per the season and age. Better you take it to vet or can hand over to forest officials.

Its great you are taking care of the bird. One thing u can do is, take it to some nearby veterinary clinic as we as the common man don't know its basic requirements.

See it is not a domestic form of species, it lives in wild and generally feeds on fruits of peepal & banyan tree (you must have seen in the video). A common man don't know its basic requirements that are provided by the nature. So, look if it is not well or injured, you can contact a veterinary doctor, and if it is healthy & fit, plz left it in wild. It is one of the part of our ecosystem and keeping it at home will disturb the ecosystem.
