Season 5 is so memorable and good because of how rich it was in picture quality and set design, along with how unique the stories were. There are a lot of shots and scenes in Series 5 which stick with you. One shot that really sticks with me is the shot of Gordon hanging out the station building.
Some very interesting thoughts there. I personally can't rank series 8 - 12 as I haven't watched them right through, but here's my ranking for 1 - 7. 7. Series 7 6. Series 6 - When Britt Allcroft stepped down and a new team of writers was hired, the quality of episodes definitely suffered as a result. The lower stakes, increased slapstick and most episodes ending with an apology make series 6 and 7 feel more childish than the five that came before them. 5. Series 4 - While each episode individually is brilliant, and I agree with the rest of the fandom that this series has the most beautiful aesthetics, the way its second half jumps all over the timeline makes it awkward to binge watch. 4. Series 5 - A solid mix of high stakes episodes and humorous episodes, with only a couple where the situations are a little fanciful for my taste. 3. Series 3 - A pretty nice series that I find it hard to fault. 2. Series 1 1. Series 2 - In the first two series, nearly all episodes pick up from where the previous ones left off, making them by far the most bingeable. I put 2 above 1 mainly because it has some higher stakes situations, including the introduction to the threat of dieselization.
Although I’m new here, congrats of your 200 subs! And I really agree with your list!!! It’s nice to see someone actually like seasons 7 a lot! And I’m glad I’m not the only one who liked the Old Bridge. Since I grew up with the HIT era, especially season 10, they’re guilty pleasures of mine so I enjoy it. Season 4 and 2 are my top two favorites as well!

Me who loves season 8. Also while I did enjoy series 11, I personally disliked the yellow tinge, it always kinda annoyed me. I liked the clear colors of series 8-10. I would also say series 10 has a share of good episodes. James the Second Best, The Green Controller, a Smooth Ride, ect.

My favourite would either be S4 or S5. Nowadays I struggle to pick which one. S4 was my favourite as a child, becuase of the characters and sets, but as I grew older, I appreciated S5 more for how dark it could, which I realise was really important for my development growing up. Kids should be scared occasionally, and we shouldn't shy away from that. But overall both are excellent in their own unique way and that's what makes picking my favourite difficult. It would be like comparing apples to oranges.

Season 1 to 7 , irreplaceable in a unique way.. No matter how much CGI steps in. Season 1 to 4 out of them obviously the cream.. Season 5, high octane ride!
The Old Bridge is definatley not a good episode but it's not as atrocious as Middle Engine. The Old Bridge had plot and had a good message about PTSD, the worse thing about the episode is the character choice, obviously being Skarloey but you can easily pretend the story takes place when Skarloey first arrived on the railway since Skarloey and Rheneas are the only characters that are really in it since we don't see Duncan speak or see his face. And Skarloey and Rheneas can be seen on The Mid Sodor Railway but everyone just pretends they're different engines so why can't we do the same here. The episode only suffers from Skarloey being the main character which can easily be headcannoned into that episode taking place in Skarloey's first year on the railway.
Honestly, Middle Engine isn’t the worst episode for me because there’s also Special Attraction which I really dislike. Special Attraction feels too mean spirited and ends with an okay character being left on a beach for the rest of his days, with S5 later showing him be scrapped. Definitely worse than Middle engine in terms of consequences. It also feels a lot more rushed as a story since Toby’s story and the conclusion feel so pointless. At the same time, Middle Engine has characters be punished for stuff out of their control. However, this is something not exclusive to this episode. So I think Middle Engine is pretty bad, but not *as* bad as Special Attraction.
@@stopmotionartist4987 For me what makes Middle Engine stand out with how terrible it is in terms of consequences is that two unlikeable characters purposefully got a really likeable and known caracter into trouble and never got punished for it. While in the other episodes where TFC blames the engines for something out of their control, it was not the intentional fault of someone we don't like, it was just human error like the cleaner in Thomas Comes To Breakfast. It is one thing if TFC apologizes later like in Cranky Bugs but here we don't see him give Percy any rightful justice. And how dumb is The Fat Controller in that episode? He is at his worst here. Not only in how he dealt with Percy's accident, but how he dealt with the rest of the dilemma. First of all, instead of making sure Arry and Bert were punished for what they did before sending James there, he just sends James there to get caught in Arry and Bert's mischief. And what's even worse about this is that when TFC hears that James is being bullied by the diesels, he has the chance to go over there and punish them, but instead of sending Percy there to bring them to him, he sends Percy there to juts ignore Arry and Bert and bring James and his train to the docks even though he is stuck in the middle of a train which is against railway regulations. Haha! At least make Percy trick Arry and Bert into being middle engines in the end or something sot hat we're satisfied. At least the trucks and Percy didn't mean to get Bulstrode into trouble. And you can actually se that Percy is sad about Bulstrode being taken away. Bulstrode was probably beyond repair after the accident so they were like screw it but it's still unfortunate what happened to him.
@@TheBrickGuy7939 But what’s worse about Special Attraction imo is that what happens to Bulstrode is exponentially worse than anything Percy or James experienced. Both characters are well established and what does happen to them is pretty small for them compared to stuff they’ve experienced in the past. If they were going to decommission Bulstrode at least make it feel earned. Gordon can crash through a wall at a station and still be repaired, Bulgy got brought back again, etc. I know these episodes were made after S4 but knowing just how bad other characters got and were still rescued makes Bulstrode’s fate a lot crueler imo. Btw Percy getting onto the loader wasn’t directly Arry and Bert’s fault- it was an accident caused by Henry. So in that case it might be a better situation than Thomas comes to Breakfast or Something in the Air when there is someone *directly* to blame which we don’t see get in trouble. It’s still a dumb punishment since Percy can’t move without his crew- this has been established multiple times in the series by now- but at least there’s an implication that the fat controller is going to investigate while Percy works at the yard.
@@stopmotionartist4987 In the Railway series Scruffey never got repaired, he was just scrapped. And it is implied that Bulgy was left to just rot away forever as well and Awdry was even going to kill off Henry so Awdry didn't mind treating these characters as if they were just faceless machines that have to be scrapped eventually. And that's the sad reality of Thomas, they are machines and at the end of the day they are treated like them. If an engine is too old, he gets scrapped. If a vehicle is too badly damaged, he gets scrapped. It's pretty dark honestly. The more light hearted approach was to say that Bulstrode will be out of service for a while until he learns what it means to be a well behaved barge. I think if he was less damaged then he would maybe would have gone back into service. A lot of people get frustrated with Middle Engine because of how easily fixable the situation was and how it would have made the episode a lot more satisfying. Also like pretty much the rest of season 6 it's picture quality is pretty poor.
@@TheBrickGuy7939 We’ve seen stories diverge from the railway series (IE Rusty to the Rescue) so I think they could’ve decommissioned Bulstrode until they eventually found a way to repair him if they really wanted to. Special Attraction doesn’t come off as a story about the dark reality of machinery when they’re unfixable, but really is more about a character getting their comeuppance. However, the way they did it felt too severe for someone who really doesn’t do much other than complain. Henry was selfish and refused to take his passengers, Bulgy lied to his passengers and almost got them killed passing under the bridge, and Smudger continuously got derailed. All Bulstrode did to deserve his punishment was be bad tempered but that’s such a mild thing. Not to mention we really don’t get to know just how badly damaged he was which doesn’t help when we see just how damaged characters like Gordon can get and still be repaired. If they really wanted to they could’ve shown Bulstrode being more of nuisance and whose actions get him decommissioned, but the other problem of Special Attraction is that Toby’s plot is irrelevant to Percy’s which wastes a lot of the episode’s time.

I mostly love seasons 1-5 as those are the good seasons. But I’ma do my rankings cuz yes. Season 2 Season 5 Season 3 Season 1 Season 6 Season 7 Season 8 Season 9 Season 10 Season 11 Season 12 The HiT Era seasons is a bit scattered because I haven’t watched it since I was like 8. I only watched Season 12 recently and it HANDS DOWN goes to the bottom, It’s my least favorite Season, and there’s SO MANY BAD EPISODES, ESPECIALLY BEST FRIENDS. But yeah, that was a little rant on Season 12.
I only disagree for what you said about A Better View For Gordon and Put Upon Percy because they are good and relatable stories mixed with great effects.
I think that they do have great effects and the visuals for both are nothing short of spectacular but (especially in the case of a Better View) aside from the iconic scenes, I find the stories quite dull and lacking when compared to others.
For me it goes Series 2 at number one, series 1 at two, series 3 at three. Then series 5 at four, series 4 at five, then 6 and 7. Anything besides the classic series I don't care much for
I will never understand that why hate a lot of people Season 6 that much. Yes it has Middle Engine or Rusty Saves the Day. But this episodes in my opinon aren't as bad as the old bridge and i think that this season is better than season 7 in my opinion of course.
My list of the classic era: #6: Season 5 #5: Season 2 #4: Season 6 #3: Season 1 #2: Season 3 #1: Season 4 I think that season 2 is nostalgic, since the first ever episode i viewed from Thomas was Thomas comes to breakfast, but itself, i think that some episodes of this season are just boring and bland, like Daisy, The Runaway (imo this episode is boring). Then we have episodes that are confusing, like Better late than ever, Percy's ghostly trick, Percy takes a plunge, A new friend for Thomas and A cow on the Line. But Season 2 is not bad, just that some episodes are bad. Than we have season 5, who half season is bad, boring, lame and bland. Gordon and the gremlin, Baa!, Something in the air, Thomas, Percy and the old slow coach, Thomas and the rumours, Happy ever after, A big surprise for Percy and Snow... these episodes, in my opinion are bad. I don't consider season 7 part of Classic era, since it aired while HiT took over Thomas The Tank Engine

Personally season 5 is the worst classic series era, it was to focused on action. These episodes had crashes or an accident. Busy going backwards Duncan gets spooked Fish Henry gets spooked Thomas and the rumor A better view for gordon Put upon percy Toby and the flood Horrid lorries Rusty and the boulder Sir topham hatts holiday Bye george The trouble with trees Cranky Bugs Double teething troubles Lady hatts wedding That one about Oliver delivering the mail ETC It was always dependent on crash, or a spooky story, making stories like make someone happy, and the good luck package kinda boring

Thomas And Friends Model Era was great i mean the models,sets and special effects animation are amazing i love it better than the CGI Era
Me who loves season 8. Also while I did enjoy series 11, I personally disliked the yellow tinge, it always kinda annoyed me. I liked the clear colors of series 8-10. I would also say series 10 has a share of good episodes. James the Second Best, The Green Controller, a Smooth Ride, ect.

My favourite would either be S4 or S5. Nowadays I struggle to pick which one. S4 was my favourite as a child, becuase of the characters and sets, but as I grew older, I appreciated S5 more for how dark it could, which I realise was really important for my development growing up. Kids should be scared occasionally, and we shouldn't shy away from that. But overall both are excellent in their own unique way and that's what makes picking my favourite difficult. It would be like comparing apples to oranges.

The Old Bridge is definatley not a good episode but it's not as atrocious as Middle Engine. The Old Bridge had plot and had a good message about PTSD, the worse thing about the episode is the character choice, obviously being Skarloey but you can easily pretend the story takes place when Skarloey first arrived on the railway since Skarloey and Rheneas are the only characters that are really in it since we don't see Duncan speak or see his face. And Skarloey and Rheneas can be seen on The Mid Sodor Railway but everyone just pretends they're different engines so why can't we do the same here. The episode only suffers from Skarloey being the main character which can easily be headcannoned into that episode taking place in Skarloey's first year on the railway.
Honestly, Middle Engine isn’t the worst episode for me because there’s also Special Attraction which I really dislike.
Special Attraction feels too mean spirited and ends with an okay character being left on a beach for the rest of his days, with S5 later showing him be scrapped. Definitely worse than Middle engine in terms of consequences. It also feels a lot more rushed as a story since Toby’s story and the conclusion feel so pointless.
At the same time, Middle Engine has characters be punished for stuff out of their control. However, this is something not exclusive to this episode.
So I think Middle Engine is pretty bad, but not *as* bad as Special Attraction.
@@stopmotionartist4987 For me what makes Middle Engine stand out with how terrible it is in terms of consequences is that two unlikeable characters purposefully got a really likeable and known caracter into trouble and never got punished for it. While in the other episodes where TFC blames the engines for something out of their control, it was not the intentional fault of someone we don't like, it was just human error like the cleaner in Thomas Comes To Breakfast. It is one thing if TFC apologizes later like in Cranky Bugs but here we don't see him give Percy any rightful justice. And how dumb is The Fat Controller in that episode? He is at his worst here. Not only in how he dealt with Percy's accident, but how he dealt with the rest of the dilemma. First of all, instead of making sure Arry and Bert were punished for what they did before sending James there, he just sends James there to get caught in Arry and Bert's mischief. And what's even worse about this is that when TFC hears that James is being bullied by the diesels, he has the chance to go over there and punish them, but instead of sending Percy there to bring them to him, he sends Percy there to juts ignore Arry and Bert and bring James and his train to the docks even though he is stuck in the middle of a train which is against railway regulations. Haha! At least make Percy trick Arry and Bert into being middle engines in the end or something sot hat we're satisfied. At least the trucks and Percy didn't mean to get Bulstrode into trouble. And you can actually se that Percy is sad about Bulstrode being taken away. Bulstrode was probably beyond repair after the accident so they were like screw it but it's still unfortunate what happened to him.
@@TheBrickGuy7939 But what’s worse about Special Attraction imo is that what happens to Bulstrode is exponentially worse than anything Percy or James experienced. Both characters are well established and what does happen to them is pretty small for them compared to stuff they’ve experienced in the past. If they were going to decommission Bulstrode at least make it feel earned. Gordon can crash through a wall at a station and still be repaired, Bulgy got brought back again, etc. I know these episodes were made after S4 but knowing just how bad other characters got and were still rescued makes Bulstrode’s fate a lot crueler imo.
Btw Percy getting onto the loader wasn’t directly Arry and Bert’s fault- it was an accident caused by Henry. So in that case it might be a better situation than Thomas comes to Breakfast or Something in the Air when there is someone *directly* to blame which we don’t see get in trouble. It’s still a dumb punishment since Percy can’t move without his crew- this has been established multiple times in the series by now- but at least there’s an implication that the fat controller is going to investigate while Percy works at the yard.
@@stopmotionartist4987 In the Railway series Scruffey never got repaired, he was just scrapped. And it is implied that Bulgy was left to just rot away forever as well and Awdry was even going to kill off Henry so Awdry didn't mind treating these characters as if they were just faceless machines that have to be scrapped eventually. And that's the sad reality of Thomas, they are machines and at the end of the day they are treated like them. If an engine is too old, he gets scrapped. If a vehicle is too badly damaged, he gets scrapped. It's pretty dark honestly. The more light hearted approach was to say that Bulstrode will be out of service for a while until he learns what it means to be a well behaved barge. I think if he was less damaged then he would maybe would have gone back into service. A lot of people get frustrated with Middle Engine because of how easily fixable the situation was and how it would have made the episode a lot more satisfying. Also like pretty much the rest of season 6 it's picture quality is pretty poor.
@@TheBrickGuy7939 We’ve seen stories diverge from the railway series (IE Rusty to the Rescue) so I think they could’ve decommissioned Bulstrode until they eventually found a way to repair him if they really wanted to. Special Attraction doesn’t come off as a story about the dark reality of machinery when they’re unfixable, but really is more about a character getting their comeuppance. However, the way they did it felt too severe for someone who really doesn’t do much other than complain. Henry was selfish and refused to take his passengers, Bulgy lied to his passengers and almost got them killed passing under the bridge, and Smudger continuously got derailed. All Bulstrode did to deserve his punishment was be bad tempered but that’s such a mild thing. Not to mention we really don’t get to know just how badly damaged he was which doesn’t help when we see just how damaged characters like Gordon can get and still be repaired. If they really wanted to they could’ve shown Bulstrode being more of nuisance and whose actions get him decommissioned, but the other problem of Special Attraction is that Toby’s plot is irrelevant to Percy’s which wastes a lot of the episode’s time.

The HiT Era seasons is a bit scattered because I haven’t watched it since I was like 8. I only watched Season 12 recently and it HANDS DOWN goes to the bottom, It’s my least favorite Season, and there’s SO MANY BAD EPISODES, ESPECIALLY BEST FRIENDS.

I only disagree for what you said about A Better View For Gordon and Put Upon Percy because they are good and relatable stories mixed with great effects.
I think that they do have great effects and the visuals for both are nothing short of spectacular but (especially in the case of a Better View) aside from the iconic scenes, I find the stories quite dull and lacking when compared to others.
For me it goes Series 2 at number one, series 1 at two, series 3 at three. Then series 5 at four, series 4 at five, then 6 and 7. Anything besides the classic series I don't care much for
Season 12 and season 11 are my favorite hit era season it's not as good as the classic series but there still are good season

I will never understand that why hate a lot of people Season 6 that much. Yes it has Middle Engine or Rusty Saves the Day. But this episodes in my opinon aren't as bad as the old bridge and i think that this season is better than season 7 in my opinion of course.

I think that season 2 is nostalgic, since the first ever episode i viewed from Thomas was Thomas comes to breakfast, but itself, i think that some episodes of this season are just boring and bland, like Daisy, The Runaway (imo this episode is boring). Then we have episodes that are confusing, like Better late than ever, Percy's ghostly trick, Percy takes a plunge, A new friend for Thomas and A cow on the Line. But Season 2 is not bad, just that some episodes are bad.
Than we have season 5, who half season is bad, boring, lame and bland. Gordon and the gremlin, Baa!, Something in the air, Thomas, Percy and the old slow coach, Thomas and the rumours, Happy ever after, A big surprise for Percy and Snow... these episodes, in my opinion are bad.
I don't consider season 7 part of Classic era, since it aired while HiT took over Thomas The Tank Engine

5. series 2 - love the grimy dirty vibes of this season if that makes sense

8. series 8 - every story was about the steam team and the cameos were also them which i didn't like but the stories were good
