I get the struggle. I spent my entire Saturday setting up a standard tn, only to order a personal wide rings on Sunday because rings just work for flexibility.
Also, I just don’t like the idea of pouring my heart and mind out into a bound book then put it on a shelf once I’m done. All those million dollar thoughts and ideas are just sitting on a shelf. So I try to think of my rings as my commonplace book and planner.
Having said all that, I do love a bound book; so the struggle is real.

That's an interesting insight about shelving the bound book; I never thought of it that way. And yes! Rings is slowly becoming commonplace and work planner for sure. I appreciate you sharing your struggles; I feel like we're not alone! Thank you so much for watching :)

I did giggle at the “I went big and had to go home” cos yes my hobo went mighty big and gosh she was so heavy! I also feel you on the whole fomo with sterling ink. I came to the desision that if it requires me to get up at stupid o clock and order in 0.2secs before it sells out then it’s not for me!!!

lol yesss chunky gurl was not fit for the road very much longer! And yeah I can see the hype of Sterling Ink if someone’s not liking the color scheme, but it’s never bothered me enough to switch. I think that mindset is definitely one I’m trying to have as well, and being on a stricter budget this year is definitely helping. Long term goals are more important than what’s being influenced at the moment for sure!

I hear your struggle. This is why my planner and my journal are two separate entities.

I'm a dedicated one rings planner...no other EDC's...simple and flexible...I don't save stuff since I journal elsewhere....my issue of late is that my life has become less complicated and the day-on-two I used to use is extraneous now, but....silly as it sounds...I feel weird not having a daily focus in addition to the monthly and weekly (the only year at a glance I have is literally just the year printed out..nothing fancy there)

I'm sorry I missed your comment! I definitely understand; for me, I like to save stuff for the time being, but I usually do a purge at one time in the future because it's cool to look back and see personal growth and goals that I met. And I've found a lot of day one page inserts that have really worked for me from Haroo Plans, Peanuts Planner Co, etc. so I hope you've been able to find one!

I had to do the exact same thing with my Cousin. I had to do all sorts of things so there wasn’t that huge hump when I opened my book… and I wasn’t about that. So I went to a bullet journal. I still filled my Cousin out and finished the year in it, so I have a full year of memories 😊

I'm glad to hear that it's not just me! I used to bullet journal, but I was too lazy during 2020 to keep it going, so I figure post-quarantine, I'd be even worse! I admire those who can keep up with it! I plan to fill out mine too; I think it will be such a cool thing to look back on. Thank you for watching

I ask my self DAILY ~ Why am I like this?! 😂 Some minutes… I’m perfectly happy with the planner that I’m using and then I look over on my shelf and think I need to switch it up!🙈“I went big and now I have to go home”💀🤣🤩This quote made me subscribe!🙌 I tried to make the Hobonichi cousin work as my one and only planner, but it ended up being a journal/memory keeper at home. I felt like I had already started using it, so might as will continue. So that leaves me in a planner crisis~trying to find one for my weekly spreads🙈. I think you should be able to use your planners for whatever your needs are😁 and you’re not cheating on your Hobonichi, she’s just your mistress now~or side piece or something 🤣 I completely agree that planning is a hobby, the rules are made up and the points don’t matter. Whose Line is it Anyway!?🙌I am your people!😂💕

yessssss feel all of this and am delighted to find another like mind! I didn't struggle with the Hobonichi until she started getting too chunky for travel, and I don't want to stop stickering up my spreads! It's so reassuring to hear your experience and how you've worked through your system. I wish you the best of luck finding a weekly system that works for you! and yess I grew up on Whose Line, which probably says more about me than I want it to LOL thank you so much for watching and subscribing ♥

Great video! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Just a suggestion. Why not use the personal as your planner and use a Hobonichi A6, that has Daileys for journaling and memory keeping.

Thank you for your suggestions! I'm digging the way everything is working right now and I adore the weekly spread in the cousin! Thank you for watching :)

I am also starting a ring planner for work now that I am going back in the office full time and like you my book bound planner is way too personal to be left at the office accidently or lost. I get that totally!

I'm definitely thriving now that I feel more comfortable whipping my planner out around others! I'm glad you can relate! Thank you for watching :)

Thank you! From this side of the change, I say go for it. You know yourself and your planning needs. Go with your gut, and you can always change back if you need to. Good luck and thank you very much for watching!

I think your best bet is to keep your Hobo for the majority of your planning, while personal holds anything you need on the go or to reference more often?
I’m a bound book person and have lots of journals, all with specific purposes and uses lol

    • @torihopperplans
      @torihopperplans  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yep! That's the plan! I'm essentially narrowing down my personal rings to work-related and reference things so that I can have a better focus while out and about and then the Hobonichi will be where I can spread out at home. I am definitely more bound book for sure, but the versatility of the rings gets me! Thank you for watching ♥

I may go back into rings for 2024 from tns this year. I don’t like leaving a notebook unfinished so I’m waiting until then.

    • @torihopperplans

Ooh I know the TNs are The Thing right now, but I get all panicky with them stretchy bands 😂 I hope you're able to figure out what works for you! Sending you all the good planner vibes!

Don't feel guilty for having more than one planner! I think if it is something you enjoy you should use as many of them and hop around as much as you want. There are no rules, don't let anyone else in the planner community make you think otherwise. At the end of the day it is just paper and stickers and all of this is suppose to be enjoyable.

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement, I really appreciate it! I definitely plan on a weeks mega for mental health planning next year in place of the Sprouted Planner, I think. I really like the versatility of the rings and I just want all of my planners to feel loved xD
