@bowserjjumetroid3645 I am not sure the gamut is 'boosted'. I can't be sure, but I suppose they try to preserve the original P3 colours - that's it. I remember comparing a BD release of The Hateful Eight with the copy stolen from the cinema (available online) - night and day. BD seemed underwhelming, as if it was toned down. I hope, HDR releases get closer to that cinema experience, and it appears to us as 'boosted' in a side-by-side comparison.
@@RockinEnabled It seems most 4Ks already do preserve the original P3 colors, in the case of any James Cameron movie, it was probably enhanced that way for the cinema re-release then ported that over to the 4K disc format
Now that i got watch the 4k i'm still disappointed, it still looks kinda waxy in many scenes and just like the other Cameron 4ks, there is no extra detail in bright areas like flashlights, reflexions on the streets at night or explosions, these bright elements are just brighter but still blown out
James Cameron 4K movies are shit because he like to change the look to a generic modern digital clean look when he orignal shot the movie on "Film" which contains film grain, all his 4K movies are NOT proper film restoration but cheap AI upscale which he likes to DNR, removing film grain = lost of quailty of image, you get that digusting cheap waxy modern clean look. If you want to see real proper 4K film restoration that keeps maintains the original film grain how a film is suppose to look, go look at, The Wizard of Oz 1939, Lawrence of Arabia, My Fair Lady, The good, the bad and the ugly, these are some real proper film restoration, and NOT garbage cheap AI upscale DNR. That's an incredibly stupid thing to say. The only real problem with 4K is that sometimes it exposed the deficiencies of the original source... and then directors try to "fix" it. It looks like they just sharpened it and boosted the brightness
The colour gamut is a tad wider, which is good in itself.

Subtle improvement but keeping in mind this is youtube video and not final 4k at home.
most improved scene in this is at 2:57 .
There are lossless screenshots of the final 4K at home in the pinned comment. As for HDR, this is 1:1 the same as the disc
Does it have the original mono audio with the original gun sounds that were used in the VHS and theatrical versions?
nope. Also, the gunshot sound in the gun store has even a 'bassier' sound.
