Man being a dumb ironworker, I can't imagine being this delicate with my work. It's usually all hang and bang but this is true craftsmanship. Great video!!
Hello, greetings from the US. I have recently begun building my own kumiko. I just watched your video: well done! I now wonder how I can make this without the haganna.
That iz just the best craft to watch and learn, from a master. A craftsman who is ensuring the skill to do these wonderful designs and works of art lives on for aeons to come . Thank you for this
Thank you for seeing my videos. Actually, I do not have a master specializing in this craft. Most are making themselves by thinking about their own way. Probably, I think that most of those who make this crafting work thinking by themselves.
Excellent work! so painstaking . Congratulations! We've used the KUMIKO concept for a balustrade, rather big pieces. Even then, it is hard TO FIGURE OUT for carpenters.
thank you for your comment. Kumiko gathers small parts and creates a nice pattern. It is a very persistent job, but I feel happy when the person I saw is amazed.
thank you for your comment. I am very happy with your comment. I opened an online shop at "Etsy" but I am on vacation now. We will resume sales as soon as your vacation is over, so please take a look. www.etsy.com/jp/shop/kikikumiko?ref=seller-platform-mcnav
Hi. Thank you for sharing, I love kumiko. Could you tell me something about the plane you use to make that V-grooves? I´ve never seen a plane like that. Congrats from Brazil.
Thank you for your opinion. A dedicated plane is necessary to cut the v groove of kumiko. That plane does not sell much even in Japan. That is a precious plan.
Thank you for your comment. Cut angle. It is the most important part. "Kumiko" can make various patterns by changing the cutting angle. I will derive all that angle myself. Before making, you can better understand writing drawings on paper.
Thank you very much. This plane is called 'haganna'. It is located in a Japanese tool store, but it is high in rare value. The price is about $ 500 for dollars.
thank you for your comment. Your enthusiasm is wonderful. But I am an inexperienced person to become your master. There are many wonderful masters in Japan. Because I also want a master.
@@moinshaikh2265 Thank you. There is no rule for kumiko. With your own sensitivity, you can make it yourself as you like. I think that the feeling of the creator impresses people who see the work. Good luck.

beautiful job..........how do you go about figuring what angles you need to cut the wood ..............thankyou

What wood did you use? And did you make the frame by hand as well?
Thank you for your comment.
The wood used is Japanese "hinoki" and is a good wood to make kumiko.
Of course, I make the frames myself.
@@pisspissgoo thank you, can you show how you make the frames?
Precioso !!
Gracias!
