I don't understand having a very expensive powerful crusher sitting their while a man breaks up the rocks with a sledge hammer.
Then again the men in the pit all have very expensive machinery and they too are leaving it to a man with a sledge hammer.

My question is why these rocks are too large because the men in the pit have rock breaker excavators and a loader could just as easily pick up these large rocks and drop them on to another rock to break them up.
Likewise why isn't the man at the crusher finding ways to still use the power of the crusher instead of using his sledge hammer.
A steel wedge on a rope between the crusher plate and the offending rock or even the head of the sledge hammer in larger gaps.
I've never met a machine that can't be improved with a bit of invention.
My guess is people swinging a sledge hammer all day don't live long lives.
