Man you're gonna be fine anywhere you go as long as you respect the culture and respect the people, as well as support the local businesses. I've been traveling all over and I've never had a problem. Americans run into problems when you start disrespecting the culture and the locals. Like a certain group of un-melanated people in Mexico complaining that the food is too spicy and they do not want the Mexican bands playing.

Very awesome interview! I went to Brazil in December 2001, a long time ago. I had connecting flights in Guarulhos and Recife. My girlfriend at the time lived more inland in Alagoas state, but we spent most of the time in and around Maceio. I enjoyed Brazil for the most part, but I wanted to visit other countries to, so I haven't been back to Brazil yet. Another style of Brazilian music is Sertanejo, which is considered the "Country music" of Brazil, but nowadays it has more of a Pop sound. Brazilian Rap and Metal are quite good. Racionais is from Sao Paulo. A lot of Metal bands are from there too. Some bands, like Dirty Glory and Spektra, only sing in English. But you want to listen to artists who rap and sing in Portuguese. That will help you out with the language a lot. DJP's Portuguese is on point, but I'm sure he struggled at first too. I know I did. 30+ years ago I called a girl I was corresponding with and her mom answered. She hung up on me because I was speaking Spanish. Later the girl told me her mom thought it was a prank call. Boa sorte la em Sampa!

Why are you all generalizing about Brazilian women?🤔 A poor girl who grows up in a favela/periferia/suburbio and did not grow up with her father, is not going to act or dress like a girl who came from an intact middle class family. Upper class girls have to watch their reputations, ESPECIALLY in smaller towns/cities. Brazil is NOT all Copacabana, Carnaval, "Favela Funk," Anitta or Valesca Popozuda.

ALL Brazilian women are NOT amazing. Some are, some kill, some are kind, some steal, some are honest, some will use a Passport Bro for a green card, some go to church every day, some are alcoholics/drug addicts, some are saints, some are "garotas de programa," some are nerds, some are nuns, many are ordinary houswives, and some are even High Society doyennes. Just remember NOT to generalize. I doubt you would call, Stephanie Ribeiro, amazing. 😉
When you talk about a woman you met from the street, Tinder, a "pagodeira," or some gp on Av. Atlantica in Copacabana, don't assume all Brazilian women: look, dress, talk, and act like them.😉
