Sounds great but QUESTION during winter will it keep the heat out? We would like a product that helps the sunroom be warm in winter and cool in Summer. Thank you for your answer.
And why would you hold them to sun outside? Would be more useful to see an untreated window and then a couple different treated options to show benefits. We have no idea how much the normal window with standard e glass already blocks
What is the Temperature ..of the window from the inside of the home ...Then wha tis the temperature of the window with your film installed ....How does this match .. Solar Screens on the outside of your Windows .... ? Living in Florida East Coast Orlando Area
I prefer using pure white curtains it’s self because they reflect a lot of sunlight just like how the reflective films reflect a lot of sunlight and using reflective films could be hard to remove them for the winter. Unless if you live in the south, then you can use those reflective films for sure to keep them on and add the white curtains on the window to close the curtains to combine with that for it to be double the cooling affect 👍. And using very bright white roofs reflects a crazy amount of sunlight and it will really keep your house temperature down compared to a darker coloured roof.
It seems logical. The filter does not make the energy disapear. IR radiation is going to be deposited as heat on the filter itself. Part of this energy will disipate to the outside and part will go through the glass into the room. Ads dont mention it ;)
What do you recommend for reducing the most amount of heat without being reflective? We have a big window on our back side and on the other side is our porch. I'd prefer not to reflect all of that light back to the deck.
I've come to appreciate all the information you show and explain in your videos ... Can you PLEASE help with this issue .. I have 4 sliding patio doors that face my green grass and 3 huge green trees ... My walls in my home are light grey, except they look green at times due to the yard ..which film would you recommend to block the green from outside, coming in ?? Thank you so much and keep the videos coming !!
I thought films slowly ruin anything that's more than single pane, because you're not blocking the heat if you install it from the inside of the window, you're heating up the internal pane
I noticed this a few hours after applying tint to the window. The window was burning hot! So hot it was burning my hand. I didn't want to risk breaking the glass, so I took it off as fast as I could.
How much does this cost? Can I do it myself or do I need it professionally done? I have 2 patio sliding doors facing west and 2 other west facing windows. When the sun swings around to hit in these windows my AC can hardly keep up. I also think the west facing windows may help heat the house in the winter on sunny days.
Just use pure white curtains instead they help just as much and will not absorb heat like how darker colour curtains do. Pure white curtains reflect 80 to 90% of sunlight which is very good, because considering those who use darker colour curtains one, exposed to the sunlight, only reflects 10 to 20% of sunlight, which doesn’t do much to cooling down the room except make the room hotter.
@Cotronixco then use white blinds instead so you can see though the window and it reflects sunlight at the same time when you tilt the white blinds to the right area so the sun is hitting it to reflect.
Ceramic and mirror window films block 99% of UV rays. The ceramic films block between 50%-62% of heat, and the mirror window films block between 55% -75% of heat.
@@darkshadewindowtint4727 When applying to the inside of the windows, they get extremely hot to touch, have you ever had a window break due to the heat? Also, i would like to be able to see out my windows, still set all of my plants next to my windows etc... so others cannot see in but i can still see out. Would the Clear or Dark film be best
Depends on the film, make sure to get one for how you want it. I would think an outside film is better, but might get worn faster as it's exposed to the elements. I use on the outside, so the film stops the heat and light from even hitting the window.
I use them on both sides. The instructions said to put it on the inside. The inside film has lasted longer. The outside film started smelling like vinegar after two years (chemically degrading) so you'll need to replace the outside film more often but I think the benefit of less heat hitting the window was worth it.
Put tinfoil over the window shiny side out. Just spray the windows with windex and the tinfoil will stick. I promise you. You will notice a difference big fucking time.
Won't the heat come in anyway? It warms up the window from the outside. Stopping the heat from getting into the house would be more effectiv, no? Even your test was done outside without a window. As I understand it, once the window is warm you've got heat in your home.
When we get our car window tinted with films from inside, i have noticed that car stays cool, ac works efficiently. So installing window films at home should also work
It works to refract the uv rays that causes the majority of the heat to enter the home and stay trapped like a greenhouse. You will always have some energy come into the home regardless of what you do
Hahha! It's hilarious! Have you tested one of your product or a similar one? Go with a thermometer if you do not have a thermal sensor... Guys, stop this! Your window will become very hot if you have the sun that comes right into it... (It would have been better on the outside!)
my 3M film was $110 a sqM 30 years ago, on 45*C days the film was 60*C inside the room B4 you waste a dime on Film products go and check your oven door glass and see if that is cool while cooking a Roast?? Try shutters or thermoseal sarking, works 10x better than useless film.

Unfortunatelly yes.

Does this help in the winter though? It wont let the sun heat up the house as much, but it will reduce heat from radiating out of the house
They should not affect much in winter. Heating is cheaper than cooling, so it's a win

Glad you mentioned the roof! I see so many roof with black or dark shingles. My roof is a light tan colored tin. So much better than conventional!
if you are south facing white curtains won't cut it.
Can it be installed externally on the window, or is it just internally? I'm thinking in terms of how the rain damages it?
Inside
Awning is a different option. Keeps the heat outdoor rather than window absorbing.
Can it be done on double pain windows?
How can I convince my mom to get the home windows tinted I’ve been trying to convince her for years

We have to install it from inside the room or outside the room
I tested the foil on small window just yesterday from the inside and when I touch it its hotter than without the foil. Is this ok?

Is the meter actually measuring heat or light intensity? I didn’t quite make out what type of meter it was.
