  • The Alfa shot the Hornady 22 mag Vmax bullets very accurately but again my handgun wouldn't work double action shooting these. Single action is awesome and as accurate as I can shoot.

    I believe this particular revolver has an adjustment screw under the grip for changing the hammer spring weight. It will allow you to increase the weight until you get reliable ignition.

    Thanks for posting, hope it’s not the Hornady. I plan on getting some for my ccw

      Yeah I think its a gun issue and 22wmr has stiffer brass than 22lr

    nice video, did you get a better spring for it and how is it now. i am planning to buy one and if its bad with 22mag i will buy it without 22mag part. it would be 200$ cheaper.

      i got mine now. i didn't shoot it yet. during my inspection, i noticed the firing pin was coming out short?! I will let you know if mine was funny with Winchester 22mag ammo.

    This is strange . Never heard of this issue or encountered it myself either. I own two alfa 3551's both have the 22mag a 22lr cylinders. They are both considered 22 mag with a conversion cylinder.
    Actually shot some Winchester loads that had the vmax bullets.
    Always fires in single and double for me.
    I'll give you some advice tho, you can adjust the coil hammer spring a slight amount to try and get a harder primer hit. Or because these guns use a flat firing pin I'm sure you could grind a but off so the contact area is smaller and transfers more spring force.
    I have done the latter to a few old 22s bolt actions with worn out springs . So instead of a line or rectangular hit on the 22 case it looks more square.

    Good video, thanks for sharing. - I had the same problem with my P320 pistol with Russian ammo. Worked perfectly with German ammo though. Maybe should should try your revolver wtih a different brand? (It's strange though, because Hornady is a quality brand though and not cheap.)

      +thatmaninblack Yeah I am on brand #2 my first video I tried Winchester. I think I need a better spring. I think a light spring was installed after it was imported.

    Hi , I have a charter arms pathfinder that is also unreliable firing 22wmr in double action.

    Sounds like different hammer spring would have made a world of differents.

      Yeah bang on... Makes the double action trigger pull heavier

      @t-bfr45-70 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Yukon12gauge00buck ya does increase trigger pull but I'd rather have a reliable gun vs easy to pull trigger. I prefer sa almost always anyway da is nice but in a real situation you need it you can have a 30 pound trigger pull and never notice shooting paper it's amazing how much onuce makes a difference.

      @@t-bfr45-70 Yeah for sure ! The gun is stripped down so I can beef it up and hopefully I can get it running nicely as intended.
