You're an inspiration bro, i think anyone who came close to dying in someway resonates with the video..... God bless you and your soul.. and there is a lot of love in this universe, we only have to reach for it..
You’re a legend! I’m recovering just now from two broken calcaneus (a pretty bad crash while climbing 😢) and your history is such inspiration for me! Thank you very much Tom 🙏🏻
Hello, I’m Martha, the mother of the girl who spoke to you at the hospital in Vancouver I was there and saw I n what terrible condition you were. Now, three years later, when I watch your video, can’t help having tears of happiness to see all you have achieved. Congratulations for being the kind of person you are. You are definitely a miracle of life. 👏👏👏
Hi Martha, it's really nice that you took the time to listen and change someone's life, especially when you had your own struggles. I hope you and your son are well 🇬🇧
Bless you for raising such a beautiful daughter. I had a young girl do the same for me in a similar position. Don't know how far small acts of kindness can spread ❤
This is the one of the first biking videos I've clicked on since my downhill injury 2 years ago, i have been subconsciously avoiding them i think. i have no idea why I clicked nor did i know it was going to be a story like this but i needed to hear the motivation. I had Broken neck, Broken spine and paralysed from the chest down and every word of this is relatable as fuck. This is the motive i need to continue to get my shit together again.
Did you get injured from a bike crash too?? Man, the video of his crash- the way it’s just silent except for the rushing wind- it’s quite hard to watch. Hope you maintain the will and determination it takes to overcome adversity brother- stay strong and may you ride again some day.
People die every day from simply falling and hitting their head. Homie fell down a whole ass gap onto train tracks, not only lives, but somehow even walks again, and even BACK on the bike! holy f this dude is built different.
I never comment on Videos but this is so inspirational. Tommo is an amazing human being after overcoming a the adversity he went through. So much respect for you dude! This Fight Comes from you applies to so many situations in life. Amazing .. This year after 18months off the bike after heart surgery I will be back on the trails again because I want too and because the Fight is coming from me .
I’m a brain cancer survivor, diagnosed with PTSD. When Tom said ‘grateful to live’ at the end that got me going.. It’s taken me half a decade to say that and mean it. I used to get so angry about my illness and what it has taken from me. But once I started appreciating what I do have things have looked up. I’m down 10kg’s, riding regularly and feeling like the old confident me. Awesome video you legends 🤙🏼
I was in a motorbike accident which saw me nearly lose my left leg. It took 3 years to put me back together. I didn't have PTSD but it did screw me up mentally. Doctors told me at one point they may have to amputate my lower leg. Even after extensive surgeries, my leg was saved, but I was told me the injury was life changing, and the doctors words were "you won't be climbing any mountains" 3 years on I was still on the path to recovery but walking again, and I worked hard to build up my strength. I had to grit my teeth through a lot of pain, and fight the demons in my head which were telling me to give up. I pushed myself and eventually took myself to Wales and summited Snowdon. Only just. It was hard, my legs nearly gave up on me. When I reached the summit I burst into tears. I never thought it was going to happen. Good on you for keeping the fight going, for not giving up, and believing in yourself. It's hard, but you can do it. I've seen people written off by doctors, but have grit their teeth and earned the reward. I now climb mountains regularly and I appreciate life so much. Never take your health for granted. It could all be taken away from you in the blink of an eye.
When I severely crushed my collarbone and was on sick leave for 3 months, i didn’t work and couldn’t ride, it had an extremely hard effect on my psychological health. I can’t imagine what it was like for you, respect that you found the strength to live a full life!
So Inspirational Tom! Broke my ankle pretty bad in Whistler, 2019 and was told that I'd never be able to ride at the level I was at again. Watching this brought me back to the mental battles and struggles I was going through back then. I actually looked at hitting the train gap a couple days before my crash on dirty merch. Sometimes life throws you curve balls, and it's up to you(me) on how you’re gonna react. I remember watching this video while I was laid up in bed with my leg cast. It sent shivers down my spine. So glad to see you’re back on the bike and ripping. Really makes me thing mountain biking is more than just bikes but a community of people who all in turn care about each other. This video motivated me to really appreciate all that I am able to do on a daily basis. Keep on shredding -Flynn
that shit makes a grown man cry!! thanks for being an inspiration to us all man! i hope we can all shred with you together one day! real legend, cheers Tommo
Smashed my heel riding my bike in a skatepark two and a half years ago. When I was propped up on a sofa thinking I'd never drop a hardtail to flat again, Tommo's story put my misery into context, powered my recovery and the adventures just got better. What a guy.
Fair play to you Tommo, glad to say I’ve had to pleasure of riding with ya, not sure if it hit me harder as I’ve gone through a very similar thing with years of recovery and being told I wouldn’t walk too and now being back to riding. Not afraid to say it made me shed a few tears! Big love man ❤
Tom thank you for sharing your story! It is an inspiration to me as at the moment I am recovering from a fractured elbow, ribs and a sprained MCL. In the back of my mind there is always the worry that things on the bike will be different from now on but you have set an example! Thanks again! Blessings to you and family!!
I can´t even imagine the level of pain and suffering you and your relatives went through after that horrific crash. Happy to know you´re recovering and most of all, feeling happy again!
Youve done a great job of bouncing back Tom. 6 years ago i had a huge life changing motorbike crash and ive been struggling to put the pieces back together ever since. Still one good thing come out of it, i discovered a passion for mtb. I can ride easier and in less pain than walking. Im out every chance i get to feel normal.
Wow i was Not expecting this. The footage of going down on to the tracks feels like absolutely Unreal nightmare so i can never imagine going through it in real Life! Its a miracle that you are alive and so good to see your humbleness towards it. Just amazing seeing you ride those big jumps again. I bet the whole thing was the biggest challenge of your life and you Nailed it!!
I remember seeing you at the Revs jam in the wheel chair and had to ask Jersey what had happened. I had to follow your journey through your insta and it was amazing to watch you learn to walk again, train and go through your rehab/physio. Your insane dedication to yourself to get back on your own 2 feet and see you back on 2 wheels was fucking amazing man! Keep that fire burning, you've inspired many to fight on through the shit times 💪
You're an absolute legend Tom. Was so hard seeing this happen to you man. Glad you made it through. Sick to see you back on a bike and doing what you love.
It’s amazing to see you bounce back, also shout out to the quick action of your buddy with the make shift tourniquet. Good people really do give you the shirt off their back.
Had a massive injury last may on my tibial plateu, in that period I was following your rehab on instagram, and that gave me so much energy for my come back! Thanks man, people like you, give to “normal people” a reason to come back.. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Amazing. Well done, for coming through the tough times, and I'm sure you'll help others through there tough times, whatever form they come in. Big love y'all!
Amazing sad and beautiful story. You’re a pure inspiration to not give up no matter what. Good luck in life, enjoy your family and ride a bike as much as you can 🚴🏼🙂
I watched it all to the end. Thank you for sharing with us his story after the crash in a video. What an amazing person he is, to get trough something like that and still ride a bike. Respect !!!
Absolute legend seriously mate huge inspiration!! I fell off a roof an I shattered my tib and fib also my skull that was hard enough recovery I’ve decided I’m going back snowboarding this year for the first time since the accident this video just got me pumped thanks Tom you’re a real king 👑 👌🏼 👏🏼
Well done Sir! And all your Mates. And all the medical crew along the way. That was Powerful and leaves me in tears as I type this. Pause to wipe and blow my nose. Your style and flow at the end is what really set me off. Again... Well done Sir!
Far out! I'm literally in tears right now! What a journey! Thank you for sharing and the inspiration to push through the recovery. All the best with the rest of your recovery 🤘
Heart in my mouth every time I see that crash!!! Truly INSANE 🤯 To come back to riding is not only an IMMENSE physical achievement, but an emotional one, and then to be riding at such a high level is simply inspirational! Amazing story ❤
Such an inspiration. Just stoked that you made it back one the bike, but more important that you regained your mental strength. This part is often overlooked in extreme sports
Thank you THANK YOU for telling your story. I had a surgery that kept me off the bike for a couple of years and I got mentally low. Very low. I, however, didn’t grow a pair and go talk to someone professional about it so I’m still processing my own thoughts and feelings. So stoked to see the smile on your face man 💪🏻
Makes a mountain biker wanna cry lol. Seriously though amazing video, any of us that have had bad injuries on the trail and come back know how it feels. Stoked for Tommo ❤
Incredible story Tom, you are an inspiration. Well done for fighting on, i remember seeing you at hardline and you was doing better than us getting up the hills... bloody hit home as well 😢 👏 ❤
Tommo, your story is so inspiring! Watching this vid i see myself. 2015, local trail, crash, 3 broken collarbones. 1 month in a hospital. Doctors said there's no chance for me to ride my Demo 8 again. That hospital time was kinda useful. I realized who are my real friends. Who are people you should love till the end of your life. I couldn't move my body left and right for like 5 weeks. Mentally you slowly become like a vegetable. Then, hard recovery. Several tries to make some small steps again. Small in distance, but veeeeery long in my mind. Almost 7 years later I ride my bike again, walk like nothing happened. Guys, crashes like this - it's a very valuable lesson. I don't want you to go through this. Cause it's not about temporary body disabilities, it's likely about mental strength, ability to stay positive even at such hard times.
And the fun fact is: two doctors who said I will never ride my bike and walk like a normal person, passed away. First doctor died at age 51, one year after my crash. Second doctor - at age 67, driving his car being drunk. Sorry for my bad english, I just couldn't pass by this story. Stay safe and never crash! ✌️💪🙏
Great story. So much love for healing and coming back better. I wanted to know where the jumps at the end of the video from 10:30 onwards are and if they are open to the public.
Thanks for all the love people ❤️
train gap is re-built. you gonna send?
@@arhysdavies that would be a sick comeback!
