Whimsical love story, or frightening ghost story? Maybe both. R Chetwynd-Hayes could mingle horror an pathos like no other. Be chilled or delighted by this tale of undying love.
falling in love with someone 'not of ones temporal period' seems to be a recurring theme of this writer. it reminds me of the much stronger and darker tale of his, the resurectionist. about a boy... who falls in love with a beautiful girl who died in his house 50 years previously, with interesting consequences lol. i much enjoyed your reading of it. perfect. in my opinion it is the finest ghost story ever written. the dreams of youth are painted doors, indeed.
This is my first story of R Chetwynd Hayes. Thank you so very much for sharing this tale of love. I think inside us all we long and wait for the ones we love and hope one day we will all meet again. God bless=;)
I have been trying to research a story by r chetwynd, I think it was in the book A quiver of ghosts, about a man's house that's haunted by a lady ghost and he falls in love with her , but to be with her he slowly dies. I'd love to know what story it is!!! From 1984 I believe!!!

Thank you yesui7. He was a very prolific writer when he was alive. If you do a search on Amazon you'll find a lot of his work for sale, though most of his books are quite expensive now. You may be able to pick up some at a reasonable price. He also edited a lot of books of horror stories and some of them also contain a story he wrote. Those are much more reasonably priced. Hopefully one day we'll get a comprehensive Kindle edition of his works.
Morgan Scorpion Yes, hardly any ebooks I could find. But sometimes the special books, you have to put the little extra effort in, or money :) thks for sharing the story.
I adore not only the stories u choose but the effort u make to bring them to life for us, your avid listeners. Thank you 💕
You are enchanting with a wide knowledge of Gothic literature. Thank you. Cee from the little haunted cottage in ireland💚💚💚🍀🍀🍀
