  • We are excited to share highlights of Jodi Glou’s, Prescient of Custom College Consulting’s recent visit to DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. Located just an hour from Indianapolis, DePauw University is Indiana's premier liberal arts college, with a rich history dating back to 1837.
DePauw boasts a 100% residential student body of 1,800, fostering a tight-knit community on a picturesque campus that includes a campus farm and nature park. The university offers unparalleled freedom to explore both inside and outside a student’s chosen major, with impressive academic flexibility.
Academically, DePauw stands out with a unique one-class-per-credit system, encouraging students to pursue multiple majors and minors. Popular fields of study include psychology, communication, biology, and computer science. The average class size is just 17, ensuring personalized attention with a student-to-faculty ratio of 10:1. First-year students benefit from engaging seminars and have the opportunity to learn seven different languages, with two semesters of language study required.
DePauw offers three distinct schools of study: the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the newly launched School of Business and Leadership, and The Creative School, set to open in Fall 2024. The university's career pathways are robust, with options in archaeology, law, medicine, accounting, business, entrepreneurship, and international business. Additionally, DePauw is home to Indiana's oldest School of Music, offering programs open to all students across campus.
Residential life at DePauw is exceptional, with all students living on campus. Its first-year experience programs are enriched by mentors and resident advisors. Upperclassmen can enjoy single rooms or communal houses. The university also has a strong Greek life presence, with 60% of students participating in 10 fraternities, six sororities, and eight multicultural Greek organizations.
DePauw students are highly engaged, with 100 student organizations to choose from and a remarkable 90% participation rate in study abroad programs or internships. Athletic life is vibrant, with DePauw competing in the Division III North Coast Athletic Conference and a spirited rivalry with Wabash College.
Financial aid at DePauw includes generous merit-based scholarships of up to $42,000, with no separate application required. The university also offers special programs like the Honors Scholars Program, Management Fellows, Media Fellows, and Environmental Fellows, providing unique academic and professional growth opportunities.
We are so excited to share the insights and experiences Jodi gained during her visit to DePauw University. Stay tuned for more updates, and feel free to reach out with any questions about this incredible institution! Go Tigers!
