there is not a lot you can say about this filly other than a phenomenal filly that had strength, endurance , and tenacity. A BRILLIANT once in a lifetime filly!
She's so thrilling to watch. I would have killed to live in the 70's to watch so many amazing horses. And I'd have to agree that the music is gorgeous and fits this so well.
Watching her again, is just music to my heart and its so moving. To me she was the greatest filly to ever live and I just fell in love with her. She would have run with the colts and beat them for what my money's worth but more than that she was a magnificent horse, beautiful black beauty, one of a kind. She was RUFFIAN, apart from the rest and I've never since seen another one like her. God Bless Ruffian
She made running look joyous! She was truly magnificent. Secretariat's trainer was quoted as saying she might have even been greater than he was. She was truly a miracle and a beautiful flying creature.
I saw Secretariat win the Derby in 1973 and thought I'd seen the greatest horse in ever, especially after that Belmont run. I'll always treasure that memory, but I sure wish I had seen Ruffian run. Watching this takes my breath away and makes my heart soar in a way it didn't even for Secretariat.
i agree with you. secretariat, seattle slew, affirmed & alydar, forego, spectacular bid, ruffian, riva ridge, bold forbes. All of them where amazing racehorses. Horse Racing golden decade
Carly, thanks so much for showing just what all the commotion on Ruffian is about, and why it is so warranted. Watching her run just takes my breath away!
Many thanks for this great video.... I'm from the UK so have not heard of the legend of Ruffian until recently... managed to get hold of a copy of Bill Nack's book (Ruffian a Trackside Romance) an excellent read.... she really was something...
she is one out of my top 3 fav racehorses, Ruffian, Zenyatta, and Man O' War... all basicaly the greatest, never truely ran their hardest, virtually undefeated, branded to my memory and heart
raduzco el bello comentario de @mitchblack,que comparto plenamente. "La yegua que Dios nos regalo a los mortales". Realmente el galope de Ruffian, alcanza caracteristicas celestiales asi como su bella y asombrosa historia.
@xxcrystlecityxx i think you r right but i think Zenyatta may be a contestant for that title... she was almost retired 20 for 20 but in the 2nd breeders cup classic Mike made a few mistakes that kept her from her quest for perfection. Rachel also may be a contestant but she had a few seconds and mabey 3rds
@xxcrystlecityxx RA was always in 1-5th to start but that wasnt my point. i was trying to say that they were all incredibly amazing and beating the odds...
@xxcrystlecityxx very well then... both of our opinions make perfect sense to me and i have also heard that, but if we said that all of the greats like ruffian, zenyatta, RA, man o war and secretariat r all in ther own catigories, how exactly does that make sense when there talents are tied so close together?
I will always think Secretariat was the best, there just isnt a comparison. My opinion and one held by most horse enthusiasts. But without a doubt, when Ruffian died, she was already considered the best filly ever, and there isnt any horse close since. Where did she stand in horse racing overall? She was top 20 and climbing very fast. Ruffian is the only other horse for me that had that magic-that over powering feel of talent and dominance. What might have been..my 2nd favorite horse. Beautiful.
The Queen...with a heart...to run....
love you forever girls..you live within every thoroughbred that has a heart to run...!

Man muss sich mal vorstellen, daß so ein schönes starkes Pferd nur drei Jahre alt wurde weil wett, -geldgeile Menschen das so entschieden haben 😔😔😔

Horses like Ruffian do not come around once in a lifetime, Horses like Ruffian only come around ONCE.
