People often forget he had over 300 wickets to his name as well in ODIs!
    What a terrific all rounder
    Big fan!!!
To this day as a spinner i still use his weird bowling action to my advantage!😊
It gives me both speed and accuracy!

He is the only player in ODI history with 13000+ runs and 300+ wickets. Undoubtedly the greatest all rounder in the ODI format.

I am from India. In my school there were Indian Fans, Australian Cricket fans and South Afrian and Pakistani cricket fans. I use to stand odd always. I was Srilankan fan. I have formally quit watching cricket after retirement of JayaSuriya. No matter what it is, World was playing 50-50 Cricket and this man was playing 20-20 back in 1996. Beyond shadow of doubt the biggest entertainer in cricket history.

@@rishabh_pant Sir Sai Varma you must be a millennial. At that time 90 Strike rate and 32 average was a big deal in ODI format. Sanaths T20 Strike rate is 130 while Sachins is just 88. 1996 worldcup his strike rate was 131. However his overall strike rate is higher than Tendulkar while Tendulkars strike rate was 88. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

before sehwag,Afridi,de villiers,gayle....there was this gifted man who defined explosive batting in his own way....his hand and eye Co ordination was worth watching...without any foot work, with just one flick, he would send the ball over the fence....for many years, bowlers had no clue as to how to stop Jaysuriya...he was the fastest to score 50,100 and 150...the only batsman to have scored more than 10000 runs and have taken 400+wickets in international cricket...a guy who transformed sri Lanka from underdogs into champions......you have earned my respect,Sir...you were a great player...love from India

On point bro! I was in awe of his hard hitting. Him and Romesh Kaluwitharana constantly crossing 100+ runs in less than 10 overs. Cricket doesn't excite or entice me as it used to back in the day, and Jayasuriya is a big part of that. (Bangladeshi fan)

Indian here but Sanath was one of my all-time favorite ODI batsmen. Just a pleasure to watch, and once he got going he was unstoppable. I still remember this innings when he had time to get the double century but just went for it every ball. Even as a kid, after initial frustration at his brilliant batting, towards the end I remember cheering for him to get the 200 myself. It was very sad that he got stumped trying to hit another six by dancing down the wicket. I'm sure you Sri Lankans miss him as much as we do Sachin and Rahul.

Ganguly applied his brain to get this man out this way otherwise we would have seen the 1st 200 in odis 10 years earlier than actual.

Where was his brain in 48 overs? And i see no good show in batting either. They were all out for 54.

C'mon. Dada was also new to captaincy then. More so, team was in transition after the match fixing saga. Also Sanath in this mood is unstopppable just like other grts. And dropping him, with bowlers like Venk Prasad and Sunil Joshi, Sorry. It was after this once Dada brought in Viru things started changing and SL got their own medicine thereafter. Once MS took over that's it he literally buried them. Still they r yet to win a series here against us.

Ganguly is awesome. He took wickets of two players who were on verge of 200 by taking wicket of Jayasurya(189) and by taking the difficult catch if Saed Anwar(194)and that helped Sachin to be the 1st man to 200. Ganguly and Sachin the pair is legendary
