    Señor Puckett, usted tiene mucha paciencia. Me recordó a mi papá, solo que mi papá tiene menos paciencia. When I asked my dad to teach me how to rope he’ll answer: “nobody taught me? I just learned by doing and watching”
    Tough love but is good love because it challenges you.
    Another time on a cattle branding
    We like doing the heal shot first then catch the head of the steer, anyway the story goes that one of my cousins asked my dad: “tío como le hace para pialar así”
    And my dad answered: “Nadamas lazas las dos patas y es pial”.
    This video reminds me so much of my dad about the lazo size and the placement of the hondilla the rollos or coils, untangling the coils this video was like a dejavú to me. I can’t wait for the second part of it.

    Lol! Just like being in cow camp. You just can't take everything personal, and you must fix yer mouth in a perpetual grin, add a chuckle now and then. (Except when in close proximity near the rear of a critter, smile too close and you'll have green specks on yer teeth. Fer every rule there is always an exception. ;) ) If ya can do that you'll get by fine.

    OMG, clinic or boot camp? Sgt. Puckett had me laughing, and glad I'd never had fledgling efforts in front of his wit! As the lesson began, I was surprised how much it reminded me of the room size area rugs I used to sell, and using the air and energy to manipulate and place something floppy.

    I think Pat is just awesome, but I observe that he has infinite patience with horses but less than none with people! A person SHOULD be easier to train than a horse because one can thourouly explain ahead of time what the plan is to a person. A person's feet gets stuck because he is afraid of the verbal punch below the belt , in front of everyone, that is sure to come! Pat enjoys bruising people's pride! I think personally that it would be worth all of the bruising of whatever to improve. Pat gets frustrated quick with people probably because horses are obviously smarter than people! Love your videos Pat and no disrespect intended!

    • @PatnDebPuckett
      @PatnDebPuckett  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      What you should understand, and what I wrote in the video description, is that these people are our good friends and they know that everything Pat said was said with affection and humor. Among these people is a professional musician, a stuntman, and an actor. All of them take criticism really well as a matter of course. In other words, Pat is a cream puff compared to the kind of pressure they endure in their day jobs. What you also should understand is that roping can be hazardous. If you can’t stand pressure, you run the risk of getting hurt. Pat turns up the heat so that people will turn on their brains and learn to react to situations quickly.

    • @br549american5
      @br549american5 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PatnDebPuckett I get all of that and I have watched lots of his videos. I'm simply making observations. One man's affection and humor is another students stumbling block. There is a reason that people are reluctant to engage him. The point that I was making is that he would never let his frustrations show to a horse no matter the time it took. A student isn't afforded the same consideration. And maybe that is natural. I hope very much that my criticism can be taken as constructive by Pat as my intentions of speaking it freely are only intended to help, as I have the utmost respect for him and his abilities. And I see it as admirable to try to get some of his knowledge into people's heads. I can imagine that if I were to try to show people how to do something that I do really well, like wording a song, my efforts would be picked at by someone!

      @@br549american5 @Pat & Deb Puckett Being there first hand at one of Pat's clinics I figured out that it isn't just Pat amusing himself at your expense (OK maybe a little) . But its purpose, I think, is to take your ego totally out of the picture. He says a dozen times when the horse doesn't do what your asking, "don't take it personal" . He teaches that to you by desensitizing you with the jabs and smart aleck comments. Much of our Horse Community are folks who think they are so much better than the rest of the world because of their horses sire , the maker of their custom saddle, their family name, or the crease in their hat. Get that rubbish out of the way, and it comes down to how subtly, and clearly you can ask your horse to do something and how he responds. End of story. I was amazed at how much more patient I became with my horse and myself when I let my ego go...
