I have a 2011 328i and not much of an issue. My sister has an Audi A4 same year. She has constant issues and is back and forth to the shop. The only issue I have had was the oil leaks and it was not much of an expensive job and just stay on top of your maintenance.
Good review and you can feel your passion and honesty in this review. Me personally have always felt this way about BMW inspite of the last two generations especially the E60 and F10 reliability is horrible. I'm on my 14th BMW currently the F10 550xi msport and I absolutely love it but it's been by far the most unreliable BMW I have ever owned. I can remember buying E30s and E34s with 100k and having absolutely no problems the quality back then was bullet proof it's a shame the quality had taken a nose dive. But I will endure and I'm a BMW enthusiast for life. Thanks for the good review.
I would like to correct you on one thing. The reliability from personal experience and with my friends has been great on this exact same vehicle. Also many of my other friends have other BMWs and have had no major issues but you have to maintenance it every 5000 miles or so.
I just bought a 2011 328 xdrive a CPL months back.. I love the e90s I had a 2009 328 before this one and sold it with 150,000 no issues at all but a small oil leak and replaced a belt tensioner that was it! Their great reliable engine.. you said 0-60 is round 5.5 in the xdrive.. sounds right or close my 09 was rwd and I had a cabin filter delete with k&n high flow filter maganflow muffler with resonator delete and a BMS power box tuner. With all those bolt ons I was clocking 0-60 times round 6 and up 6.2 was my best with the rwd 328 I bought the 2011 xdrive and it feels faster 0-60 than the bolt on 09 did I guess the AWD pulling from all 4 wheels is faster to 60 than the rwd? But after about 60 I feel my old one has more power.. is this true?
Buying a 2011 328xi this week. When I test drove it I saw lots of shiny yellow gold clean oil on the plastic OEM splash guards. I said my offer now is adjusted down $1500 to afford a fix. They said no. I walked. 3 days later I got a call saying they took it to their local European motor garage. The mechanic confirmed it needs a oil pan gasket and a new transfer case pinion seal. Job was $1400 and dealer said they should’ve taken my -$1500 offer. Well now it’s getting fixed and I don’t have to take it to a shop. Now have to watch the vanos, thermostat, water pump, eccentric sensor seal, and the valve cover gasket. Only half of those I can do myself. More money to a German shop down the road. Can’t wait to get it. Hope it doesn’t bite me in the ass like a Rattlesnake.
The N52, which is the the 328, is actually pretty reliable. The engine and trans are very reliable, it's the things around the engine that are just average reliability, but easy enough to fix yourself, and cheap if you can. If you have to take it to a shop it will get expensive. Learn to work on your own car.
The linear power band feels amazing. Super smooth torque curve.

@@DriveHub yep this exact one
You buy it from Tulley?
@@DriveHub What's a tulley?
Tulley is the dealer the car got sold to. I wasn’t sure if you bought that exact car or another BMW 328
Great review...! Would like to have heard more about the specific reliability/repair issues...
I will say my neighbor had the exact same car and it had barely any issues for 10+ years but then he got rid of it because he wanted the M2.
Like your enthusiasm for the car :)
